View Full Version : What game would you like to see on Pocket PC?

After seeing someone asking about The Sims on Pocket PC, I'm curious what games people would like to see. I'm thinking games from other platforms or classic titles that would be feasible i.e. in terms of performance and interface, not wild suggestions like Quake3 etc. Any ideas?
I would love to see Populous converted. This is a classic from my Amiga days and if it can run on a machine of less than 8mhz, I'm sure the PPC would do it great justice.

I'm waiting patiently for Worms Armageddon for the PPC (http://www.hexacto.com/news.php?nwid=32) due to be released August 2003. I play the PC version every day at work against two coworkers. Can't wait to try out the PPC version.

Otherwise I am writing a PPC version of Nine Mens Morris (Mühle) myself that should be ready in two (or three) months.

Well I am still holding out for somebody to port the original Warcraft by Blizzard.

Come on if they can do Age of Empires then they could surely do Warcraft.

One that I am definatly waiting for is the port of Warlords II which I think is in Beta at the moment.

How is the BEER compared to Austrailia.
They should have some good Dark Beer in Dublin!

I'd like to see Slingo ported over. I have a WindowsCE version of it for my Philips Nino, but it doesn't work on my iPaq :(

How about Crazy Taxi? It's on the Game Boy Advance already.

Yes we get everywhere - especially places renowned for their beer

The darks stuff here is great - unfortunately we have the weather to go with it. Ahhh for a nice hot summers day and an ice cold middy by the beach.....

I would LOVE to see Sid Meier's Civilization 2 - maybe 3 :D

If they made Baldur's Gate 2 a turn based system then I'd like to see that - although they'd have to port a game that takes 4 CD's to install...

Isn't there an emulator out there? Or an updated version of it? The one I had didn't work very well

Don't know, but wouldnt be the same. I want it rebuilt for two player via wireless. Luckily I still have my original Genesis to play it on (Along with an Atari 2600, Intellivision, NES, N64, Virtual Game Boy, PS2, and an arcade Mrs. PacMan)

I reckon the old arcade game Gauntlet would be cool but with some mods so you can play your world on your PPC and other players can be in the same game wirelessly on your side or even against you.

That would be a cool game :D Not sure about playability issues though, might be hard to pull off...

A decent gin rummy game!

A little side tracked. There is a card game that is very popular in asia, called "Truff" or "Trump" ... it is similar to "Spades", except that the trump is not always the spades, but the highest suit chosen during bidding -- i.e. if the highest bid is 7 Heart, then Heart become the trump.

Anyone know a card game like that for PPC/desktop ? I have been searching for this card game for a long time, no result. Thanks.

As I said earlier, I LOVE Star Control. I never knew there was a 2 or a 3 for that matter. I was totally excited until I found it looks like they are only available for 3DO or Mac. :mecry:

In star control 2, we are supposed to find 2 precursor artifacts, I found the precursor battleship, but cannot find the second one. What is the second one ?

And I remembered we have to find 10 colorful planets ... I managed to find only 9 of them. Doh.

I have to agree with you, star control 2 is definitely a very cool game.

Goldkey : Only on 3DO ? I played SC, 2, 3 on a PC.

I second Star Control 2. Excellent game. What I'd REALLY like to see on the PPC are "Day of the Tentacle (http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId,719/)" and as many of the "Space Quest (http://www.vintage-sierra.com/spacequest.html)" games as possible.

FYI: Beware the MIDI music on the Space Quest page if you're at work.

Magic: The Gathering

:way to go:

You read my mind.

Only thing is, Magic was a lot more fun when there weren't a bazillion cards you had to know about just to be competitive. Tournament play and expansion bloat killed the experience for me. I stopped collecting seven years ago and stopped playing Apprentice five years ago.

The old Microprose games were fun, though. I'd like to see something like those.

It doesn't sound at all like Hearts. There is no bidding in Hearts, nor is there any trump suit. The only thing similar seems to be the lack of any partners.

How about Silke Bridge (http://www.silkesoft.com/sbridge.html)?

Almost there. Difference is, no partnership at all. Bid and play for yourself. Your score came from perfect bidding only. If you bid 4 and got 4, that will give you a +4. If you bid 4 and got 3 or 5, that will be give you a negative score.

I hope that's a joke without a smiley. There are probably 24,257 versions of Tetris and variations for the Pocket PC.

For a couple of good ones, check out Applain's Classic Arcade Games (http://applian.com/pocketpc/classic_games/index.php) or PDAmill's GameBox Classics (http://www.pdamill.com/prod2.shtml). (Note: Both of these used to be free, but aren't anymore.) For a free version, try Tetris for Pocket PC (http://www.freewareppc.com/games/tetrisforpocketpc.shtml) (I haven't played this one, though, so I don't know how good it is).

If you :google: "Pocket PC" Tetris, you'll find many more. I just did, and my estimate above wasn't that far off -- I got 29,600 hits. :-D
