Hello all,
I'm a n00b to the PocketPC GPS realm and I was wondering if I could gather some of your thoughts. I recently stumbled on some eBay auctions that are basically knock-offs of some popular GPS units.

The first is a Socket BT receiver:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3037278056&category=4668

The second is a compact flash receiver:

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these OEM'd units? Also, does anyone have any thoughts on CF GPS receivers as oppposed to separate units/modules?

I have an Ipaq 3835 which will be upgraded to an H5555 in the next month or so.

Your feedback is appreciated.
Matt

Those are decent products and both are available from Semsons (http://www.semsons.com/gpshardware.html) for a couple bucks more than those ebay auctions. I have had good experiences purchasing from Semsons in the past.

GpsPasSion.com (http://www.gpspsassion.com) has a Bluetooth GPS comparison test that includes this Globalsat unit.

Thank you. I think I'll give both units a shot and do a little comparison.

I believe the first link is not a Socket BT GPS, rather a GlobalStat BT GPS. It is selling for $209 on Semsons, not $500.00 as the auction advertised. Even the best rated Socket BT GPS is selling for only $339 at Mobilplanet.com.

Don't be tricked by the aution advertisements. Head over to gpspassion.com for a wealth of information on both GPS hardware and software for your PPC.

Best deal on a bt gps is from travroute. They are selling the socket/emtac bt gps for 199 shipped. It just says Pocket Copilot on the top and I can confirm it works with all GPS software that the emtac and socket ones support....
