Maybe if it was free...

For now I'll just stick to the cardboard book on the shelf at home.

I've go some, not enough though...and of course if I bought something like this I'd be admitting (to myself and others) that I'm collecting them rather than just "still have a few left from the last time I was over there" (which is also true).
Actually, it occurs to me that something like this could be a useful promotional item for European tourist boards and companies, as an interesting bit of background for first-time (or inattentive) visitors to the EuroZone.

I remember when I first visited the UK in the eighties many visitors (not me, coz I'm a Cool And Confident Man Of The World) were confused about the regional variations on British coins, wondering for instance whether Welsh pound coins were legal tender in England (to be fair, some retailers had the same problem). Some visitors might experience the same confusion even with the minimal degree of localisation on euro coins, so maybe this would help them know what they were looking at and understand its context (and the euro idea).

PS. And I'd just like to point out to the universe at large that I'm always open to .NET (incl. Compact Framework) job offers, especially in the EuroZone.
Now time to face the shower and the cold and my current job... :morning:

Wow .. This has to be one of the best looking programs for PPC.

Too bad it's made for such a dull use. I can somewhat understand why some people want to go ahead and collect coins from 18th century, but collectors of 2-year-old eurocoins .. I just don't get these people.

If you work on any work with cash register in EMU area, you'll have 90% of eurocoins collected in a week or so. That is, if you still feel that it's an important thing to do.

It's not about you. It's about your family after you. Let's say someone would have started his collection in the 18th century, and the family would have continued to collect until now. Your collection might be quite worth something, even if it wasn't hard to collect the coins at the contemporary times. I guess it's the same as with stamps: new, anyone can buy them. But once they're out of roulation, they get an added value.

That said, personally I've found collecting stuff other than gadgets not too interesting. But if others like it, they should go for it. :)

Well, it's the fact that every country has a unique coin back. It's like collecting the 50 state quarters in the US. I'm an American living in Germany right now and my wife and I are collecting the euro coins as we travel around here. We don't collect them to be worth anything (other than face value).

I'm sorry, but it is a bit harder than that. Some friends of mine do work in tourism here in Portugal (and we have a lot of tourists) and they get me some coins and I must say it's hard to get them all that way.

It's fun to collect'em 'cause they are legal tender in all europe and are so many of them. There are a lot of people collecting them.

Some new one from the vatican sell for up to 400 times their face value 8O !!!

Maybe if it was free...

I'd love to make it for free... if only those bills were more "virtual" than "real"...

Thank you jizmo! Your compliment makes me remember how much work I spent on my platform independet GUI.
You'll certainly see it in my other software projects :)
Euro coins from your country (Finland) are very difficult to find, in particular the 1 and 2 cents are getting really rare

Collecting Euro coins has become even funnier even for me now that I have all the info on my PPC!

I'm not doggin on ya. I have bills to pay as well. And I will give you kudos for not charging like it was desktop software. It does look nice. I just have that American habit of throwing my change in a jar. So I now have probably a few hundred euros laying around. I dig through there and fill my collector's book. I did notice I have 50 euro or so just in my car. I have to save that for all the toll roads in France, however. I have a trip coming up next week!

No problems whatsoever, we're civil people, aren't we?
Ehi, it looks like you've got enough Euros to start a collection!

From your profile I see you're in the military. :armed:
Well, I've got a great passion for military history and wargames.
If you also play them look out for my wargame projects in the near future.
Bye!
