This gives you quick access to functions such as power off, soft reset, brightness, volume, memory, etc. It's a small (95kb) program and only $2.99 at PocketGear. There is no demo available, but for those who'd like to know more about the program, Jenneth has written a nice review.

OK, this looks REALLY close to what I'm looking for. All I want to do is get rid of iTask on my iPaq. The only thing I use it for is to bring up the backlight settings.

Has anyone tried this app? Does it allow you to assign an action to a hardware button without showing anything on the screen?

Man, I hope it does... that would be sweet... (Yes, my desires are simple).
