Reduce your bandwidth usage by inspecting your email account before downloading. Features:<br /><br />• Support for unlimited number of POP3 email accounts<br />• Download info only, headers, headers + lines or complete message body<br />• Delete emails without downloading them<br />• Powerful and simple filter creation<br />• Filter on any part of message (supports string search, regular expression and wildcards)<br />• Filter by friends/spammers emails or domains<br />• Filter by senders country<br />• Hundreds of predefined filters and blacklisted domains included"<br /><br />I'm just dying to know if this works, because I get an enormous amount of spam to almost all of my email accounts. Kudos to PocketPCSoft.com for releasing an application like this, but I'm not convinced that blacklist filtering will be effective enough. I'm interested to read what you think about this!

Hmm... why not just use a server side solution? For me spam is blocked at the server level, so if I access you email from outlook, my pocket pc, etc I dont know it ever existed. Everyone should have their own web server anyway 8)

What if that's not an option for people? I know that my local ISP (Shaw Cable) does jack all about spam blocking...

Works great with all of my accounts except Pocket Hotmail 2.0 and MSN. With MSN I get Connecting, Connected, then command not implemented.
As far goes Hotmail it doesn't even see the account.

Works great...

So what % of spam did it stop?

My ISP (Cablerocket (www.cablerocket.com)) is veeerrrrryyy good about spam blocking.

Unfortunately, that's about the only thing they're good at. They filter out all the good newsgroups (anything with mp3 in the name, all the hacker-type newsgroups), they have horrible downtime (compared to a lot of ISPs), they quite often have horrible lag accessing email, if we get a power bump, it's 15 minutes to half an hour before we get ISP service back... On the plus side, when you go to do a download using a download manager, you can quite often get 2Mbps+, which I thnk is unfortunately their cap.

No No
What you need is an email that can block emails sent to spam adresses.

is this freeware?

The website says it's still in beta so no price is listed at the moment. I highly doubt it will be freeware. I'd guess it will cost between US$25-$45.

More than most decent PPC apps cost. The magic number seems to be ~$20.

I asked this in a similar announcement on Brighthand, and they've still not answered: what's up with 'the first one to... ' when nPOP's offered most of these features for almost a year? Seems the cash, when this available for purchase, is mostly for the added preset list of filters. Otherwise it seems simpler simply to use a great email client, which happens to be freeware.

Could you post the link to that topic? I can't seem to find it.

Sorry, very. I'm forever getting PocketPCPassion and Brighthand mixed up, strange as that probably seems.

Here's how I tell them apart.

Brighthand is the one with new content, but includes Palm stuff. Pocket PC Passion is the one that only deals with Pocket PCs, but hasn't had its home page updated since June 21. :devilboy:

I don't like this app very much. It makes my ppc freeze. It would be better if it was a plug-in for Pocket Outlook.

You know, maybe I'm grumpy this morning, but when will this end??? I'm sure this is a great product that fills the needs of many out there, but I am sick and tired of even needing to buy this kind of software. It's bad enough I have to buy spam protection on my PC - but now this? Backup software, file compression, registry editors, synchronization apps, encryption software...the list goes on.

And it's not even about the money. It's about the hassle. It just feels like there's a never-ending list of things we need to get to make our PPCs truly functional. I know the basic PPC does offer a fair amount of functionality, but the vicious circle never seems to end. How long is it before we need full-blown firewalls, defraggers, uninstallers, etc?

Well, I don't think that's entirely true. I'd say that about 90% of the Pocket PC using population doesn't need a registry editor, encryption software, or even compression utilities to have a "truly functional" Pocket PC. Hands down, backup software -- that works -- should be in the ROM of each and every Pocket PC. The rest of the stuff is great for power users, but the casual user really doesn't need much extra to be truly functional, in my opinion.

Jason, I understand you are being hosted by Page-Zone (http://www.page-zone.com), well they use SpamAssassin (http://spamassassin.org) on their mail servers and it’s a pretty efficient software. You just need to enable it on the control panel…

I get around 100 junk mails a day and I'm sick of it too.
When I get my email from my PPC while mobile, I have to delete 90% of it just to get to the legitimate ones!!
It wastes my data from AT&T, which still does not have an unlimited plan yet.
It's a real problem.
