Overall SPB Benchmark Index:

HP iPaq h1940 (2003, 266Mhz) 1335.5
HP iPAQ 2215 (2003, 400Mhz) 1146
Compaq iPAQ 3650 (2002, 206Mhz) 993.1
Compaq iPAQ 3970 (2002, 400Mhz) 846
HP iPAQ h1910 (2002, 200Mhz) 669.4

I really wanted to know this myself, so I took the time to request and download the benchmark suite, performed a hard reset, and these are the results!

I don't know how to post the graphs to this board, but if you follow the link below, click on "add device", then copy and paste the .XML below you can compare the detailed benchmark results to other devices:

Wow those are amazing results! The are quite a bit higher than those posted over at Brighthand though...

In any case, my 1940 has been able to handle anything I have thrown at it including video and SNES emulation so I am more than happy regardless of the benchmark results.

I'm posting to the thread mentioned above right now. I don't know why the original poster got such low scores, all I can say is that I ran this benchmark twice and got similar scores.

Also, I compared running PocketSNES and PocketQuake on both devices, and the framerates were identical:

http://paqpark.nuclearfallout.net for PocketSNES
http://www.pocketmatrix.com for PocketQuake

The original poster from brighthand recorded an overall score of 550. I got more that twice that score, and from my experience with PocketSNES and PocketQuake, I'm more inclined to believe a score of 1300. Weird though.

Does this mean that the h1940 IS FASTER THAN the 2215, 3650, 3970, and the h1910?????????????????

Please someone translate this numbers into words. This is really really really important for me to know since i am about to purchase a 1940 or 2210 Pocket PC.

I don’t quite need the CF slot but for the added power and expandability I will opt for the 2210, But now if the 1940 is faster or equivalent speed with the 2210 then I will certainly go with the 1940.

Can someone please let me know what is going on? This is important for me in order to take the best decision.

Well, as always interpreting benchmark results is more of an art than a science. Having two sets of wildly varied numbers on the same device sure doesn't help!

Anyhow, I've registered to download SPB Benchmark (takes up to 72 hrs to get a registration code... ) so I'll post my results up here when I get them.

Here is the XML that can be used to compare the results to other devices at http://www.softspb.com/products/benchmark/compare.asp

Enjoy!

Looks like the XML thing won't work because the board strips out some of the XML tags that start with "builtin".

Oh well..

Ended up posting the graphs up over at Brighthand:

Hint... How long before we can post images on the PPCT forums?

Wrap it in the CODE tag - that's what it was made for. :-)

Probably never - the bloat that would occur in our database, or on the hard drive in general, would be massive. We've been able to keep our entire database of 130K+ posts to under 200 MB I think - while other forums are using up 40 GB hard drives. It's just not worth the trade off - Web space is free/cheap, and if you need a place to host images, you should get a site. :-)
