My 5455 just died (read: dropped), and I have my TAP from CompUSA ready to go.

So... 55xx or 22xx? Anyone compare them? -- for this comparison, let's assume that money is not the biggest concern, I just want the better PDA.

Help!

THanks! :D

Well, just look at the devices.

iPAQ 2215:
Dual card slots
Bluetooth
64MB RAM
Small size

iPAQ 5500:
Single SDIO slot
Bluetooth
WiFi
128MB of RAM
Larger device
Can still use all sleeves
Biometric security

If money is no concern, the 5500 is the most powerful, but it is larger. And to use CF accessories and memory cards, you need a CF sleeve.

Ed, when you mean the 5550 is the most powerful do you mean in terms of features (wifi, 128mb) or raw speed? There are some benchmarks floating around the web where the 2215 is consistently faster (although not by a huge margin) than the 5550, but I'm not sure if they are accurate. Can you confirm/refute this?

OK gents, you got me thinking...

what about:

55xx vs 22xx + CF card

Then the only advantage is the added 64mb built in, right?

OK, should I make things more confusing? In my PDA junk drawer, I have a CF Sleeve, a CF+ sleeve (eval unit to be returned to HP), a PCMCIA sleeve, and an extra battery for the 5455.

And last... There IS one thing that I am interested in and I forgot about: LEAP Authentication. The 5400 is supposed to start supporting LEAP soon. If I get a 22xx, is there a CF WiFi card that supports this?

Thanks again!

Features. I have no idea about raw speed, but these devices are getting so close to each other I don't know that anyone should make a decision just on speed. It is like comparing a BMW M3 to an Audi S4. There are so many other factors that just looking at acceleration or top speed is really making in uninformed decision.

The 5000 series is more "profile-rich" if Bluetooth is important to you. No headset profile on the 2215.
