I was on my way back from a late lunch & decided to swing past the local CompUSA (El Camino - Sunnyvale, CA). I was disappointed (again) to not see any h5555 units, but then decided to ask the store clerk.

They had JUST arrived in back and hadn't yet put them on the shelf. They have 16, er - make that 15 units left as of 2pm-PST.

It's going to be a busy 3-day weekend! (Lots of software to test!)

If you get a chance to run SPB Benchmark that would be great so we can see how it compares to the 2215, so I can see if she's going back or hanging around for awhile.... :D

Also, if you can confirm if this unit is missing consumer IR or not....

It's missing consumer IR. No Nevo, which means that this either has CIR and it doesn't have the app, or it doesn't have CIR.

I'll post a preview here and on Brighthand. I'm doing a head to head test between the E755 and the iPAQ 5555. The complete test will be posted on PDAJunkie.net.

That really stinks. With an upgrade available for the 5455, unless the 5555 did something really special... the older unit is better in at least this respect.

Although an overall improvement (755 2002 vs 755 2003) there are some areas that decrease in performance... that should never happen! Overall, it looks like the 755 is a better performer than the 5555. If Toshiba would only improve on their customer service.

How about the speaker volume. Have they fixed that with the 5555?

Well, the speaker volume for me is perfectly fine. It was on my 5455 as well, so I might be a bad judge of the volume thing.

I can't do a side by side comparison of the 5455 and the 5555 since my 5455 is at an HP repair depot getting a board replaced for the second time.

I have never used a 5450 but I can see how someone would have a problem with the speaker volume on the 5550. It is fine if you are listening to it in a quiet room. However I have a hard time hearing it if there is noise around... even in my car.

The 5550 volume seems to be about half of the 3975. With the car air-conditioner on I can't hear the voice in Mapopolis Navigator. I had to resort to one of those cassette plug-in things --- just another wire to get tangled up.
