Any Best Buy employees able to estimate the arrival of the 5555? I went into one yesterday and the girl I spoke with didn't even know they existed.

I'm not sure about Best Buy but CompUSA has the 5555s in stock in retail stores today.

No BestBuy employees or friends of employees out there? I have a dead 3955 that I got at Bestbuy (and a PSP) and wanted to try an upgrade.

I went in yesterday and they don't even have the 5555 on their system. They have the 3955, 1910, 2215 and 5455 in stock, but only have the 1910 on the website.

I am beginning to get worried.

Anyone out there able to help my anxiousness?

Hmmm....

I need someone from BestBuy to at least acknowledge that they exist here. . . Please?

I am waiting for Best Buy to get the new 1900 series devices in. I've been checking their website multiple times a day.

I just checked, and as of this writing, they have the 5500 listed as coming soon, with an arrival date of 14 to 21-July-03.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for pointing that out to me, Mr. Spera. I am hoping to have a 5555 in my hot little hands by the end of next week.

Please take no offense at my calling you by a more formal name, sir. I am just trying to boost my spirits from having to wait so long for that darn $700 piece of plastic and sand (silicas).

Sorry, Chris. You can call me "King of this world, and all of the pocket lint." . . . or you can call me Craig if you wish.

Best Buy Stores do have them in (at least some of them). Not on display, but there. Funny thing is that they have the 5555 priced at $649.99 and the 5455's are stil $699.99.

Great thing is, is that Best Buy exchanged my defective 3955 at my purchase price, which happens to have been $649.99. As such, I did not have to pay an extra penny for the unit. Further, as the Compaq warranty was still valid, the BestBuy service plan is still in effect for another 2 years for the new unit.

Hopefully this guy will work for several years and I will not need the PSPlan, but it is nice to know that it is there in case I need it.

I guess that I was not very clear in my post. I had the 3955 just less than 1 year, with the 3 year service plan. The terms of the service plan indicate that if the product is exchanged after the termination of the one year consumer warranty, then the PSP could also terminate with the exchange. While this doesn't make much sense, that is what I thought that it said.

According to the customer support desk at BestBuy, since my 3955 was still under the Compaq warranty when exchanged, I still have 2 years and a week of the PSP.
