Has anyone been able to successfully pair their HP 2215 with their desktop using BlueTooth? I just installed a Belkin USB BT adapter, but the configuration is not as intuitive as I thought it might be.

When I try to pair the devices from the desktop, my PPC is discovered and then I am asked for a BT passkey. But it is not clear if I am supposed to make up a passkey on the fly, or if I am supposed to have already gotten this from another location. If I make up a password on the fly and enter it, my PPC then immediately askes for a passkey. If I type the same password, the desktop immediately responds that the pairing has failed because authentication has failed.

Either I am a moron (very possible!) and I am missing something, or something is just not working properly.

That's the way it works for me. You think up a passkey on the fly and enter it on both ends. If the pairing is failing despite the fact that you're entering the same passkey, then you either have a faulty 2215 or (more likely) you have software/configuration issues with the Belkin BT dongle.

Personally, I don't trust Belkin a whole heck of a lot when it comes to computer accessories. They make good cables and power strips, but for actual accessories where software drivers need to be installed and such, I don't find their devices to be extremely robust.

I'm currently using the D-Link BT Dongle and it's worked great for me.

Works the same for me on my Belkin, which, I should comment, comes with excellent software. Anyhoo, I think alphanumeric passwords don't work sometimes... can't remember. Just pick an all-numeric one and it'll be a cinch.

I love the new wizard on the 2215, it makes things so much easier.

Thanks for the replies!

Yea, I thought that the Belkin software was pretty good as well. It seems that in my case, my pocket PC and my desktop see each other just fine, but they don't seem to want to authenticate in order to pair. I have tried everything I can think of (different types of passwords, configuration settings, etc.) There is probably some obscure software setting somewehere that I don't know about.

If I ignore the pairing and just try to connect to network access on the desktop from the 2215, it just hangs. Very frustrating.

Well....I have been able to get some things to work. I still can't pair up, but I can browse files, sync using ActiveSync, and gain network access with my desktop. One thing that I noticed....I have to connect to the BlueTooth serial port before I can connect to network access.

Its pretty cool being able to surf the web on a PPC in a different room about 30 feet away from my PC!!! The speed was actually pretty good. I was able to watch a streaming video with no problem. I am beginning to like this wireless stuff........

I managed to get my 2210 talking to a Microsoft BT Keyboard/ Mouse dongle. If that's possible, anything is possible!

Well I'm trying to do an ActiveSync and when following the setup from GeekZone, I can never get the COM port to match the USB dongle by Belkin. The lowest COM port for the Serial connection is COM10 and the ActiveSync is looking for COM1. Any ideas?
