For software that goes on your PPC, you can use freeware from sites like PocketPCFreewares (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com) or FreewarePPC (http://www.freewareppc.com). If you're talking about software like Outlook, you're going to have to buy it if you want to do any syncing with the desktop computer.

Keep in mind that Toshiba just decided (for now at least) to not provide an upgrade path for the e740. So if it's everything you want now - great, go ahead. If you're hoping to get the OS upgrade... beware.

I think you should look at the thread of angry-folks-against-toshiba before you decided to buy an 740.

Why not the 755/750 anyway ?
