AGAIN.....where the HECK is the NEEDED e740 upgrade? No matter how sweet the e750 is (and it is sweet). I don't frickin want it if they are going to treat it any different then the e740! Hello HP! ;)

Always had it, always will.

I dont see why anyone would want to buy this one over the 2200 series ipaqs. Unless they want the built in wi-fi. :? Oh well...

Yes!

Ah thanks for the info... I made a thread in regards to that same question but it was in regards to all ppcs with the 200 mhz memory bus. :? Nobody has made a reply. If you know any others...could you shed some light on it?

Two words: jog dial.

Hah yeah I know what you mean Crystal...for the short time in which i had my Toshiba 335 that was one of the little things that I really loved about it but i was shocked when i heard the 2200 series ipaqs lack this feature. Well hopefuly the new Axim will come out and blow us all away...(why am i so hopeful of this new Axim :?)

For an extra $50. You'll get larger screen and built-in WiFi. I am also use the expansion pack for PowerPoint presentation. So not to switch yet...

Enderet

But the bigger screen doesnt necessariliy mean that it is better than the screen of the 2200. Plus...it seems to me as if most peripherals are made for the compaq/hp ppcs. :?

So far as I'm aware, the e750 was the only PPC2002 device that was actually designed to use the PXA255 processor so it does have the 200MHz memory bus.

Other PPC2002 devices with the new processor (like my Axim) were designed for the old chip so have the 100MHz bus.

I assume that all the new PPC, designed for the 03 software and PXA255 will all have the 200MHz memory bus, although I don't recall seeing this confirmed anywhere.

I imagine an upgrade to a PPC2002 e750 will make a very fast PPC.

Grr... oh well here I am taking a little break between classes and i expected to come back to PPCThoughts and find some sweet juicy info on the new Axim and I didnt find anything at all. Maybe when I come back in another 3 hours there will be something. Please PPCThoughts staff...I stayed up all night yesterday waiting for some news and still nothing(except the info on the Axim WM upgrade being offered) but not even that is that good...well at least not for me, because I need the 200mhz memory bus.

It's not looking good. They seem to have set out their stall with an e750 upgrade, but no 740 upgrade

Sorry to burst your bubble, Enderet, but I haven't seen any news on the new Axims. The only Axim news I've seen is that the Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade will be available for existing X5s.

Sigh. I'm excited about the X7, too. If it exists, it could be the greatest machine ever. I'm consoling myself, though, with thoughts of the Toshiba e755 and the new JVC.

 A little while ago I walked from one side of my campus to another because I thought i was going to be late to class. When I got there the lights were off and there was nobody in the room. I looked at my watch only to realize that my class wasnt supposed to start until another 15-20 minutes. I felt so so dumb and I came back just in case some new Axim info had been posted.

Two Questions:

1) Any word on whether Toshiba decided to fix the joypad problem on this model :?: I heard (and I tested and confirmed) that it was useless for many games, particularly emulations. There is a .5 second button lag, which simply doesn't cut it for poor Mario...

2) Does it compare favorably to the iPAQ 2200 in terms of speed :?: In theory it should, with the same processor and OS, but it seems that the 2200 series has been getting all the attention

If the answer to both of these is yes, then I'll be at Amazon in a flash :!:

BTW: Forget the 2200. 3.8" screens own - after the 3600, I'm never going back :) no matter how fast :D

I have to admit I am tempted by the 2200. But as an e740 owner who is used to the jog-dial and built-in WiFi I can't imagine losing those 2 features. The 2200 looks AWESOME, especially the size, but I don't have any problems carrying my e740 around. I'd be happy just to have a flip cover... that's what bothers me most about carrying this thing around everywhere.

The e750 still has the Imageon chip, it gets about 4FPS slower in Quake than the 2200 series.

And I thought having a built-in graphics card would be GOOD for performance.
Silly me :)
Silly Toshiba :)

Actualy the toshiba's built in chip SHOULD make things faster, problem is very few devolpers have given the time to implement these enchancements... (pocketv and pocketmvp have and it added about 5fps for me) Also in benchmarks the e75x has been doing slighlty better than the 2200 series

Great!

Now someone please tell me the joypad issue has been fixed...
To check, download:
http://jetech.org/dl/pn06_ppc2002.zip
Then google your way to some NES Rom (legally, of course :) ) and see if there is .5 second delay whenever you try to jump.

Then PM me and I will send you a quarter :) (You pay S&H  )

Ok, so I have a clie that needs to be replaced at Best Buy under the PSP (dying battery). Should I get the e755 or the HP H2210? I don't have to pay for them, as it would be swapped out. So, price is a nonissue. Is the e755 designed to handle the extra 200mhz bus? Cuz I know that some of the newer versions of the axims are shipping with the pxa255 but the board isn't optimized. Should the e755 be this way, or should it be able to fully utilize the new chip (Pxa255)? Also, I might be setting up a wireless setup in my apt next year, so that is why I am leaning towards the tosh. Thanks guys!

I know grifter. Posted that link in another thread. :D I am going to go to CompUSA and TAP it to another model. I have had it with Toshiba. Should have known better. I have had enough problems this one that I can probably get them to swap it out.

If your thinking wireless, then by all means get the Toshiba. It's better then having a frickin card sticking out. My personal preference is to wait a bit for the new HP's or to just get a 5555 with 128 MB ram. If y ou get one that still has 2002 on it now, you should be able to get Windows Mobile 2003 for free and you'd alos have bluetooth to use with things like the bluetooth GPS and printers. OH and I did not see...is there REAL printer support in 2003 yet?

I think you'll find that an awful lot of people out there don't want civilians hurt, Palestinian or otherwise.

Ok, agreed.

Can someone please confirm that the joypad no longer lags????
