Alex Kac, the developer of Pocket Informant, posted a <a href="http://www.pocketinformant.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=1435">ton of pictures and thoughts</a> about his experiences with the 2215 running Pocket PC 2003. Most telling: "BTW, PI FLIES on this device. I've never seen dialogs and screens pop up so fast on a WinCE device."<br /><br />Moreover, a Brighthand <a href="http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?threadid=81209">thread</a> shows that SNES emulators are playable on the 2215. Yes, not just NES, but SNES. Awesome!

I have the feeling that ALL PPC2003, er, Windows Mobile devices will be this fast! :D

Is this true, can someone confirm? I would hope so but I seem to have read last night somewhere that the 2200 is supposedly the fastest, for some weird reason?

LOL! Don't mention Brighthand forum pics. I unknowingly unleashed an atomic bomb of a pic on their forums, causing quite a stir...and nearly wrecking my reputatioin!

also according to this review

the 1940 seems to have similar performance of a 400Mhz xscale ppc

It happened without my knowledge. Read this thread and it will explain everything:

Back to topic; I can't wait to try out one of these new devices. PPC 2K3, or whatever you wish to call it, seems to offer dramatic speed improvements.

In all fairness it wasn't really Foo's fault. It was the idiot who replaced the picture that Foo was linking to.

That disgusting picture really spoilt my day

"Bandwidth stealing" is a controversial issue. If you're paying for bandwidth for a Web site, having other sites linking to your photos and other media can eat up a lot. That "idiot" was trying to make a point.

You can debate whether he did it the right way, but you can also argue that Foo should have known better. He's not a newbie. (We need a "newbie" smiley.)

For what it's worth, I think Jason handled it better (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5416).

Well, I don't want to drag this topic off any further...it is, afterall, about the HP2215!

Anyone want to discuss it can post in the "Off-topic" section.

How about upgrading a ipaq 3950? With the support for Xscale in 2003, does anyone know if this will improve performance?

I can't swear to it, but I'd guess the 2215 has been optimized to leverage the 255's allowable bus speed improvement. There may be an improvement on 250 based PPCs as well, being due to the OS "optimizations".

Just allowing a doubling of the bus speed would improve performance incredibly. So yes the new OS helped, but my guess is so did the new bus speed.

In benchmarking the Mem Move numbers are like quadruple the 100mhz Bus ones.... I believe the Bus is making the most difference with XScale optimizations adding a little more kick...

I've had some wierd behavior with the 2215. (It may be a PPC 2002 applet causing the issue) I occasionally have had it turn into a speed slug when it has been turned off with a few apps opened. I had a message open in the inbox had the unit turned off for a while came back and thought it was hung......it wasn't it just was runnng in super slow mode.
