As Crystal mentioned, JVC is planning to release a new Pocket PC. Check out these pictures of the JVC -- I was all set to get a 5550, now I'm seeing this unit with all its multimedia capabilities, and the awesome-looking cover, and I'm back in indecision mode again!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Parekh-20030623-JVC.jpg"><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Parekh-20030623-JVC-Small.jpg" /></a><br /><!><br /><a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Parekh-20030623-JVC-2.jpg"><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Parekh-20030623-JVC-2-Small.jpg" /></a>

Cover DEFINITELY looks awesome, but the bottom just ruins it for me.

I should probably quit sounding off on this JVC anyway. It has so many features that it probably has auto "kick your ass for making fun of me" mode.

uggg don't like it.....specs are great but..... it's like toshiba's homely cousin...

I can envision great pain from sticking something with corners like that in a pocket.

Wow, everyone SERIOUSLY fell asleep.

To pass the time, I'm getting a great laugh from http://www.jedimaster.net and this kid. Oh man, it's too much.

But look how professional it looks! A little elongated, but that dark metal'ish color looks awesome!

The specs look pretty sweet too; i'm just happy that the PPC platform is growing.

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and I'm watching e.r. If they were having a marathon on e.r., I would stay up with you folks.

Yeah, well I'm in EASTERN time, it's 3:01 here, I'm NOT tired at all, am NOT doing a thing tomorrow, and I'll PROBABLY be here all night!

God help me.

The brick, err sorry... the JVC PPC looks like a brick!

The USB port is, however, misplaced on the lower-middle part of the left side. That's where my hands should be holding it...
USB ports SHOULD be on the bottom (or in extreme cases on the top) and nowhere else.

I'm not tired at all, the local time is 10:08 and I'm high on coffee!

Find a way to pass the time. That's all I can say.

BTW - You and I had an acquaintance a LONG time ago. You'll never in a million years guess who I am, so don't.

I don't know if I would buy one, but I have owned a lot of products from JVC, and never been disappointed (other than their compu-stink for their stereo components). I think it looks rather sylish, and don't think the corners look so square in comparison to the toshiba 335/750 line.

It doesn't appear to be a brick IMO. Everyone said the same thing about the Axim, and I was pleasantly suprised at how thin it was the first time I held one. I own an ipaq, and until I got a CF whitney/krussel case. I longed for the thinness of my jornada in comparison to an ipaq w/sleeve.

Even without bluetooth, I think this could a formidable oppenent in the PPC arena. It's nice to see another PPC with USB host capability.

I wish JVC good luck in their PPC venture, even if I don't purchase one.

I really like the look of this new PPC - if only it were not for the bottons and the strange looking d-pad. Still the specs sound pretty impressive and I really really really want my next PPC to have a built in cover :D

But does it have a jog dial??? I looked hard at the pictures, and it looks like there's a lot going on on the left edge, but I couldn't tell for sure.

Still, I think this may be my next Pocket PC. 0X

Yup. It looks like JVC is really serious about the audio/visual capabilities of this thing. They also are offering a cradle with built-in stereo speakers. I'm not sure why you'd need this, but it's cool anyway.

Heh heh. They had to find some way to recycle all those VHS cassette housings that are no longer being used!
