That's right folks, Dockers Mobile Pants, those essential accessories for the coolest of the cool, are coming out with version 2.0, now with Stain Defender! No more coffee stains or smeared Butterfinger bars on your classy PDA case that also happen to cover your legs!

Just click on the image above, then click on the large image in the upper right section. The image changes. You'll need flash for it to work and it is a bunch of javascript links. Sorry. It appears at this time that there is not going to be an upgrade available for Dockers Mobile Pants 1.0 owners.

Upgradeable clothes? That's a great idea! Ed, in case your current job doesn't work out, you could build a modular, upgradeable apparel company.

Cool pants!
Is the right leg fabric dyed or is it spray-painted on?

I was in Costco last night and saws they had Mobile Dockers for $19.99. I didn't notice if they were the "new" models, but it is a great price for them! Best price I've seen for them in a local store was $34.99.

I'd rather wear jeans, but if it means not having my iPAQ with me, I'll stick with the mobile pants.

FYI - For those of you that are tall like myself, these V2 pants come in a size 36 inseam, unlike the V1's. I order mine from LBJ Jeans in New York. $42 each + $8 shipping.

That's cool. I normally wear a 36" inseam (although, if you can't order both waist and inseam, I sometimes have to go for a 38" inseam), so I didn't pay much attention to Release 1.0 because they stopped at 32 or 34. I don't need flood pants. :-D

I love my Mobile Pants!! When I start pulling gadgets out of the hidden pockets, everyone takes notice. They seem to wear as good as my other non-wool pants too.

I got a few of these Mobile Pants with stain defender last week. Was planning to wear them tomorrow. (Just ironed them actually!) I've had the Stain Defender on other non-"mobile" pants, and it works pretty good. I love having the extra pockets on the seams.

The unfortunate thing about Levis "Stain Defender" Technology is that it's OLD NEWS. They use Teflon which makes cotton and other fabrics it's applied to feel "synthetic" or plastic.

If you want to get something which is spill/stain proof, go for Nano-Care technology found on some Gap khakis as well as other brands of products.

Nano-care feels no differnt than regular cotton pants, except that they maybe SOFTER, not only do they deflect stains and stay dry in the rain, but they also are wrinkle resistant - no ironing!

Again, you may not be picky, but Teflon on pants? - ULCH!

36" inseam? I'm 6'2" and wear a 34 and still worry about walking on the heal of my pants sometimes. Hrm...

Hmmm, I'm 6'2" and I usually go for 33 or 34 inch length legs. I would like to try a pair of Mobile Pants, but we can't get them over here in the UK. :?

I must have proportionally longer legs, though. at 5'4" I wear a 30" inseam when I wear men's jeans.

Show us your legs. 8O

j/k. Girls generally have proportionally longer legs than guys though, don't they? Or is that just a trick our minds play on us?

Well, if you can't find a pair of mobile pants to fit your legs or your needs, you can always buy a pair of regular Dockers and get a matching ScotteVest!

Actually, though, my black mobile pants perfectly match my black ScotteVest! 23 pockets! Talk about a chick magnet!

While you could hide a few chick magnets in all those pockets, I'm always leery of having magnets near electronic equipment.... But I guess that's showing my age. ;)

I'll take Patagonia Gi II pants instead. The old model had thigh cargo pockets (hidden, sort of) on each side, now they are only on the left leg. Still, they're comfy, wear well, and have ample pocket space for phone, pda, laser pointer, tricorder,... Oops. Geek Freudian slip. Another techie friend swears by his when he's working in the co-loc site.

I have something like 4 pairs of these, and love them. Favorite pants 3 seasons out of the year. Yes, they do cost more than Dockers. BTW, I did a 2 hour marketing research video thing for Dockers a few years ago. They were struggling back then. For $250, I was happy to help.
