Touch screen not working on h1910

Hey all. I have a 1910 here that I play around on. Lately, I haven't been able to get the touch screen to work at all. The stylus doesn't make it work, my fingers don't make it work, nothing. I had also noticed that it seems to be running incredibly slow. When I use the keys below, it takes literally 1 minute for the appropriate screen to display. I tried turning it off & on again several times and tried removing & replacing the battery. Nothing helps. Has anyone ran into a similar problem with this PDA? If so, is there a fix for it? Please respond with any relevant information. Thanks.

Are you using a screen protector? If a screen protector gets wedged in too far under the edges it can stop the screen from working....

Did you buy this Pocket PC fairly recently? You might just want to take it back to the store.

Hi,

I had the same problem. My screen was not registering anything from the pens, fingers, tapping etc.... even aref soft and hard reset. The buttons would work. I took it into the repair dshop and was told the screen sensiitivyt was fried.

The unit was replaced as it was still under warrantee....

Before you bring it back to the store, make sure to try a soft reset (by pressing in the hole on the side), and if that doesn't work, a hard reset (on the 1910, I believe this is accomplished by holding down both the power button and pressing in the soft reset hole on the side). Note that the latter will wipe out all data on the Pocket PC.

Crystal: I am not using a screen protector, so that can't be the issue. Also, I did not purchase this PDA at all. It was given to me by my company to learn. I am the product specialist at our company and it's my job to know about all of the new products that we're going to be selling (PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players, laptops, etc.). I had found it to be quite unusual to discover that this screen just stopped working altogether. When it did work, I would definitely recommend this product for sales in our store. Now I'm not so sure.

Janak: I just tried doing a soft reset on the PDA & that worked! Thanks for the advice. Now I can go back to playing with this awesome little PDA. :mrgreen:

Congrats. :) I bet a program had crashed and that's what was causing the screen unresponsiveness and slowdown.

In a related vein, I use PHM Task Manager (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/taskmgr.asp) extensively. Every once in a long while, I'll tap on the bottom-right of the today screen to open it and that spot is dead. If I remove it from the cradle/reinsert it, it works again.
