Now you can. Our Lil' Sync Retractable Sync-n-Charge is the perfect solution. It extends from 4" up to 35", weigh only a couple of ounces and will sync and charge your unit. The Lil' Sync is a definite needed addition to your travel bag."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/lilsyncl.jpg" /><br /><br />My friends at PPC Techs are expanding their business with a whole whack of new hardware accessories. Cool! These new cable solutions are similar to the ones made by BoxWave, but a little less expensive from the looks of things. They have models available for all iPAQs, Dell Axims, and 02 XDA Pocket PCs. They've also started to sell <a href="http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ppctstylii.asp">a line of stylii</a>, with one model that has a light. Cool. 8)

iPAQ 31/37[sic]/3700 Series Lil Sync Retractable Sync-n-Charge Cable

I thought the earlier iPaqs couldn't charge through the sync port. :confused totally:

Wait, what kind of battery does the sylus take? I can't find it anywhere on the site...

I always charged my 3870 and now my 3975 and ROM flashed through a USB sync/data cable without any problem. Keep my cradle in the closet in case of emergency.

Hmmmm.... from the website:

"iPAQ 31/37/3700 Series Lil Sync Retractable Sync-n-Charge Cable " :?:

Could that be a typo and should read "31/36/3700". Hope so. My H3630 is still chugging along, and I would be very interested in one of these.

You mean iPAQ 3600 series devices? Yes, they certain can - I charge my old devices all the time that way.

I have a variety of these cables (picked them up at Fry's, but now I'll order them PPCTechs)...they work great...I even have one attached to a 12v USB auto adapter for quick charges...wish they would make a stereo speaker and mono mic version too...

I second that. Hopefully, some manufacturer are looking into this right now.

Jason, would you please remind your friends at PPCTech that CANADA isn't in a galaxy far far away...

I thought I'd order one of those lil' cables, prices seems ok, BUT:

US $ 16.03 for shipping to Canada? 8O
US $ 69.77 for shipping to other countries? 8O 8O 8O

*gulp*

PPCTechs will ship via USPS/Canada Post if you ask them. And if you can wait a while, I imagine HandHeldCanada (http://www.handheldcanada.com/) will eventually stock these, as they already stock a lot of PPCTechs' other stuff.

Now that would be really great. As much as I appreciate companies shipping to Canada for reasonable rates, I still prefer shopping IN Canada. :)

Thanks for the hint. Maybe they should put a blurp or something about that on their site. Those shipping rates are really scary! *shiver*

Anyone knows if I can use this for the HP568? And if not... is there any other similar solution?

What is really scary is the nice envelope you will receive a few weeks later from Fedex or UPS with a nice charge of a few $$ (or more).

They call it shipping & brokerage fee. :devilboy:

I'm not aware of any such cable for that device, probably because the sync and power ports are separate.

There's no reason they couldn't make one... the power port is right next to the sync port. The connector would just have to be a little wider. They probably figure there aren't enough Jornada users to make it worth their time to sell a Jornada version.

Some other hard-to-find retractable cables:
http://www.ccnow.com/cgi-local/mframe.cgi?link_http://www.pc-mobile.net/index.htm
Scroll down to the haft bottom of the page.
e.g.
-Retractable cable for XDA allowing using the same cable for phone conversation and listen to your music in stereo...
-Retractable phone earbud
-Retractable audio extension cable

At Fry's you can find:
Retractable USB cables (A/B, B/B, etc.)...Retractable phone cable..Retractable Ethernet cables...

Tip: Buy an auto adapter (lighter-USB), plug in a cheap small USB hub
http://iogear.com/products/product.php?Item=GUH174
stick it under your car dashboard..Now you have 4 ports delivering 5VDC for your gears...

Maybe they're really, really heavy itty bitty little cables.
Just be thankful that you're not Other Countries.

It's a shame really, it looks like a very cool idea...at the VS.NET 2003 launch I was wandering around the various companies' booths, looking for free stuff (As One Does) , and someone gave me a retractable network cable...very nifty. I thought that would be really handy next time I'm, um, not quite sure but I'm sure I'll find a use for it. But these little cables on the other hand are obviously and immediately useful.
Oh well.

Why does it say that the Dell won't charge if the battery is below 80%? Is that just something unique to this cable?

Now this just made me laugh out loud...

"...with one model that has a light. Cool. 8)

Remember when anything with a little red led light was 'cool'? They'd attach them to everything, then charge more for the 'cool' factor?

Now of course we are much wiser.
It has to be a blue light to be truly cool.

Yes, but didn't we all think it was so cool when they started blinking the red ones? :jester:

...which is a real pitty since my HP568 is ticking along happily... If I run out of battery, just plug in the MONSTER sized one... If I need to ICQ and there's not enough elbow space for the Pocketopkeyboard, plug in the HP Thumgkeyboard...

And the keyboard does have a blue light... so it's cool  ...pitty it doesn't blink...

Nothing to do with the cable. The Dell requires 5.4V, but USB is only 5V. We're working on a solution currently.

Yes, HHCanada will be carrying the Lil' Sync also.

With customs issues, it's really best to purchase locally. Fedex Ground will end up sending a bill for $25 US for customs handling.

Keep in mind that even though the Lil' Sync only weighs a couple of ounces, UPS/Fedex still rate it at 1 lb.
