On P 67 of the July 2003 issue (Vol. 6, No. 3) of PocketPCMag, there's an ad featuring a rugged-ized PPC -- the TDS Recon or something or other.

If you read the ad it says that the unit uses Windows CE.NET

The screenshot on the unit does look somewhat different than a PPC 2002 -- but then again it looks very much the same.

I also thought that the CE.NET GUI on the PPC format has a grey taskbar and the traditional "start" button, similar to the CE 2.11 GUI.

Thoughts?

There is a difference between Windows CE and Pocket PC (Although, Win CE 3.0 is at the core of Pocket PC) The screenshot you saw must be Pocket PC 2003. Because PPC2K3 has Windows CE .NET (4.2) at it's core:)

No - it is not a PPC 2003 screenshot. It is simply a CE.net screen with an XP style.
