Just an offhand "gee, I wonder..." question

Scarily, no. news.google.com is my homepage - I find it to be one of the best ways to start, given its broad and diverse array of newspaper selection.

Having said that, before you all attack me with pitchforks, PPCT is almost always the first site I go to -- before even reading news.google in the first place. And I take full advantage of Mozilla's tabbed browsing to have a PPCT page up most of the time. ;)

On my notebook and desktop PCs I use about:mozilla as my home page. (In IE, it gives you a blank blue page.) In my Pocket IE on my Pocket PC, I use this (http://www.beauvais1.com/ppc/pie_start_page/) as my home page. (Yes, I'm anal-retentive.)

I confess... this Poll is meant to marshall all the Yes! and Never log off!members to strongarm Jason into putting News that Matters on the Homepage... not Important News (to whom?) but... News to Choose!!! ... such as Happy News... HoRrIbLe NeWz... Funny News... Is this NEWS?... stuff like that that starts the day YOUR WAY! As well we could have links to all the member's cities, towns and willages CURRENT DAILY WEATHER!!!
I have other cool ideas, but we have to get more than 14 "always here, or start here" votes (out of almost 10,000) in order to affect positive and innovative improvements!

Keep Voting!!!

I use Yahoo, with my customized home page. I'm thinking of creating my own custom start page, though.

Start page in both IE and Netscrape 4.8 is about:blank. Saves time, saves lives.

But Home is set to my Netscape bookmarks. Though I spend more time using my IE favorites (IE being, finally, the better browser of the two).

I use my own links page (http://www.garlic.com/~svvg/svvglink.html) as my home page (although I load it from my local hard disk, not the Web). I put almost everything I want to keep permanently there, only using bookmarks for sites that are interesting, but limited interest.

The second tab I create in Mozilla is my Pocket PC page's news section (http://www.garlic.com/~svvg/svvgppc.html#LINKS_NEWS). Pocket PC Thoughts is often my third tab, though.

I use my own startpage start.topdogs.no (http://start.topdogs.no), but PPCT is almost always the first thing I check when I turn on my PC...

My page is currently pointing at mazingo's mobile portal.

It's got everything I need.

I could never have PPCT as my home page because I'm obsessive about new posts and don't want to miss any. I turn my computer on in the morning at home just long enough to check my email and sync my iPaq, then I'm off to work, where I log into PPCT and see 3-6 pages of new posts, or even more. If I used PPCT as my home page, I'd miss out on all those juicy new posts. I just use a blank page as my home page at home (and my company's page as my home page at work.)

Well, mine isn't. But, I am going to give Firebird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/) (formerly known as Phoenix) a try at home. It allows you to have custom groups of bookmarks. You can then open all of those bookmarks in separate tabs at the same time. For me, that would be great. I could open PPCT, Slashdot, My Yahoo, and Screamscape.com all at the same time. I think you can do this in Opera, but I'm much more of a Mozilla fan.

My Yahoo at work, blank or google at home...

You'd think it'd be the opposite, wouldn't you? Hmmm...

My homepage is BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk). But I always ignore it and check PPCT first. I should probably just change my home page to PPCT, but that would require like three clicks or something.

Weird - when I looked it up I thought it said 2002. Oh well. I know why I didn't remember it - I wasn't here in mind or in body.

I do a lot of software demos, and my customers are always writing down this site's address because it's my home page and they've never seen it before... and these are college instructors, so hopefully we're spreading the word!

If I were to design "URL cards", would you guys USE 'em? It would be a large graphic designed to be printed out at 8.5 x 11" and cut up into smaller pieces. Would that be helpful?

You probably checked the Joined Date, not the Post Date. I notice that I do that occasionally.

Besides, all you need to remember is one word or so from a post, then do a search. :-)
