I am wondering what options there are for synching a Pocket PC with an exchange server or any other ways of remotely synching with Outlook data which is behind a corporate firewall - I presume synching over ethernet would not be possible unless the firewall was configured to allow this.

I read this piece about XTNDConnect Server ...

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnppc2k/html/ppc_connect.asp

... but am wondering if there are any other options or whether there are plans to make this a built in functionality on servers.

The key for many people in companies that don't have official support for Pocket PC synching will be a solution that can be easily and cheaply implemented which will be one barrier less in peruading the sys admin to allow such functionality.

Pointers to any existing resources as well as info here would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Andrew

www.seven.com, O2 in the UK partnered with them to develop something called xmail (http://www.o2.co.uk/business/productsservices/mobileoffice/xmail/0,,120,00.html). Seven's website lists some other telecomms providers in different countries they've partnered with.

Exchange 2003 (which outlook runs on in most companies) is supposed to have pocketpc synchronisation built in but would need to have sys admin make changes.
