The cost of the upgrade is $99.99.

I had this modification made to my Phone Edition and I can tell you that it is GREAT! With this enhancement, you can load up your device will tons of software and keep your device's card slots available for things like storage cards with your music and video files or for network cards. The upgrade service is also very speedy, and you'll most likely only be without your beloved Pocket PC for a few days.

if you hard reset, does this RAM drive also get wiped?

What I would like is the installation of a Flash disk, much like the e750 has. I'd rather have 64MB of ROM to store files on rather than ram, even if it is slower, because ROM will preserve after a hard reset, and that's what's most important to me.

Also, why is it that only the iPaq can natively view 128MB... not this 64 RAM disk thing via a driver?

this sounds like a pretty good deal....

its a shame they dont lower their prices for the t-mo/xda/02 upgrade.
$129 for an extra 32 mb of ram is pretty steep.

The T2T Disk as it's called will survive a hardreset just like the FlashROM portion of the ROM and it's also faster than the built-in RAM. As far as natively viewing the extra RAM it boils down to the original memory used and how it's connected to the motherboard of the PPC. The iPAQ 3900s where the only ones I know capabable of that so far. But extra memory is extra memory :D .

yah, but if you can't use that memory as program memory...

but then again who needs 128MB of program memory ;)

An SD card of the same price looks more attractive to me, since the ram is only ramdisk.

This might sound stupid or, at least, very OT, but what's the Phone Edition? Dell offers a Phone Edition? I want that. Can't find any info.

Dell offers a Phone Edition?
No, my point was that PPCTechs has been offering similar upgrades for other devices, and I had it done on my T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition. Sorry for the confusion.

This new storage area, called 'T2T Disk', WILL GET WIPED OUT if you do a hard-reset. It's RAM after all. So it won't survive power failures and hard-resets....

One idea of making use of it is to use the original 64MB as dedicated program memory and use this extra RAM as storage area where you install applications and etc. Not sure if you will ever need 64MB of program memory... but using the extra space for applications will give you better performance because the new RAM is a lot faster than the original...

this voids the warranty more than just a little bit, right?

I assume so, as is the case with any non-manufacturer-performed tweaks.

Also, if you send a 128MB Axim to Dell for warranty service, you possibly won't get a 128MB Axim back. Compaq/HP's been swapping units for a while.

Yes, it does as will any non-manuacturer tinkering will do as ctmagnus previously wrote. Check out their site Pocket PC Techs (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/) as they can answer all your questions and are very friendly and informative. IMO more internal memory is alway better than any external memory as it will free up the card slot for a better purposes. It is absolutly worth it. If you do it, you will see.
