Is there any way to get the seperate tasks to display on the "today" screen. I mean, appointments do, but I'd like tasks to be listed too, have I missed something obvious here? :)

Unfortunately, without 3rd party software, I don't think you can do this. I believe that in the last iterations of the Pocket PC OS (PPC2000 and WinCE 2.11\3.0) you COULD do this. You could also customize the Inbox section of the Today screen to show you e-mail subjects and\or names. Somehow, this functionality was lost or deemed not important in later, newer versions of the OS.

If I knew the names of any specific add-on software packages, I would post them, but I don't. Can anyone else help Platinum with some software titles?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Kevin :)

I'm pretty shocked MS left it out :( I previously had an old cassiopiea (win ce 2.x) which did it.

I find it a real hassle to have to tap into see my tasks, I would rather just glance accross and see them while I'm at my desk. Grrrr :?

I didn't think Windows CE 2.x had a Today screen. My Sharp Mobilon Handheld PC certainly didn't. I never had a Palm-size PC, so maybe they did.

One tap is a "real hassle"? Maybe if you're driving.

Anyway, a simple :google: search on "Pocket PC" tasks Today found the following items (not all freeware, though):

TaskView Today (http://www.developerone.com/pocketpc/taskviewtoday/)
QuickTasks (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_qt_overview.html)
Today Tasks (http://www.clubic.com/t/fiche1336.html) (a French page, but it's freeware)

In addition, there's also Dashboard (http://snoopsoft.com/dashboard/index.html). You didn't say what Pocket PC you have, but, if it's an iPAQ 3800 or later, you might have a light version of Dashboard on the CD.

I like TaskPlus (http://gkokot.free.fr/ipaqp02a.htm) It has plenty of display options.

If you're looking for something to display your tasks seperatley from your appointments check out Tasks Plus as mentioned above. If you would like them incorporated amongst your appointments, check out tAgenda (http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/kohgo/index_en.html).

I also use tAgenda.

I use tAgenda as well... it is, IMO, the best plug-in for appointments. However I have found that it can only display tasks that have dates assigned to them.... any tasks without dates will NOT display using tAgenda. That is why I use both tAgenda and TaskPlus.

If I'm wrong, I'd be very interested in getting ALL tasks to display using tAgenda. thanks!

just a bit of an update - it seems tasksplus has a memory leak somewhere, it's suckin' down all the spare memory once a day or so :|

Shall go looking at some of the other programs mentioned :)
