Does anyone know when MS will provide 802.1x support in the Pocket PC OS like they do for W2K and XP? Specifically looking for support for PEAP. I did just get the new drivers from Symbol and they support 802.1x but only with EAP/TLS.

Thanks.

Most likely they won't. PPC 2003 is just around the corner and it is said that it has 802.1x support.

If I'm not mistaken, the e740 has 802.1x support if you install the new drivers from Toshiba.

If Pocket PC 2003 will have it, doesn't that mean Microsoft will support it? :?:

YES, for PocketPC 2003.
Generally once they release a new version the then release Service Packs for the NEW version and not the older versions.

Even EAP/TLS would be nice. We've got plenty of Axim with Dell cards (and others, primarily Intersil chipsets).

So, besides Symbol and the Toshiba, what else supports WPA? Add-on drivers available?

I guess I am a bit confused. You say "most likely the won't" but then you say it will be included in PPC 2003?????

Yes, and the original question asked when Microsoft would support it. There was no mention of whether Pocket PC 2002 would support it, just the Pocket PC OS. The answer would therefore be "When Pocket PC 2003 is released."

Yes, that was my point, too. After some reflection, I think Eitel was assuming that you wanted to know if 802.1x would be supported in the current Pocket PC OS, to which Eitel was saying no. Then Eitel mentioned that it would be supported in Pocket PC 2003.

I assumed that you just wanted to know if any release of the Pocket PC OS would support 802.1x. If that was your question, Eitel's answer would be confusing.

Maybe you should clarify your question. :-)

Sorry, to clarify my question. Will PPC 2003 include support for 802.1x PEAP and WPA etc... in the operating system?

Now that it was mentioned, will this also be available as a download for PPPC 2002?

Yes. I was "assuming" that he meant PPC 2002, since he never mentioned anything about PPC 2003. Now we know once again why "assumption is the mother of all screwups". :D
