Hi!

Anyone got any ideas of the best way to convert MPEG's and DiVX files I'm using on my desktop computer to formats suitable for my PPC (preferably to DiVX)?

Do a google search for Virtual Dub, it's freeware. Select the size filter for 320x240 and full compression on audio and video. Try the divx codec 5.03 for video compression and 32 bit mpeg3 (mp3) for audio. You may want to decimate the frame rate by 2 for videos normally higher than 24fps to start. Then save as .AVI and virtual dub will convert. Those are just my settings, I'm no expert but they give me quality full screen video that plays smoothly.
Also, for the Divx playback use PocketMVP(freeware). Sorry I don't have links handy for these.

Virtualdub (www.virtualdub.org) is the way to go,
Here you can find a guide: http://www.moosegate.com/betaboy/dcdivx/Encode_DivX_video_for_the_PocketPC.zip
