View Full Version : Zeta gamepad dev. is dead. Alternatives?

I finally received a reply from the makers of the Zeta gamepad in Korea.

Seems the sales are so slow they no longer mass produce them, and have stopped all development for future and present PPCs. So no version for Ipaq38xx/39xx or other PPCs.

With the Stinger project not being further developed either, to include newer models of gamepads (AFAIK), this also offers no alternatives anymore, as Stingers have become rare (or unfindable, depending on your geographic location).

So external PPC gamepads are out, and for click-on pads there's only one model available now, with maybe Benq ever releasing their long-announced pad too.

Not a good situation (considering the available gamepads are not without flaws)

Does anyone know of other alternatives or projects like the Stinger one, to adapt standard controllers for PPC use?

I believe the source code for the Stinger project is available somewhere if you'd like to continue developement. Also, Stinger gamepads are abundant on eBay (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=gravis+stinger) (where I bought mine for like $16).

That's why I said "depending on geographic location"

Ebay in Europe carries none.

With PPC becoming more and more a consumer device rather than an exclusive business toy, and thus gaming use of PPC on the rise, one would expect the number of pads to rise, not drop.
