It seems that one gets more capability for less money with the e755.

iPAQ 3970 = $549 from HP site
iPAQ 5455 = $581 from Buydig
e755 = $567 from Amazon.

Looks like much more bang for the buck with the Toshiba (and possibly fewer ROM headaches as well vs. the 5455) given CF slot.

If I'm unaware of something, please let me know. I'm in the market and it seems HP is trying to get too much of a premium for a product that may not quite stand up?

Thanks for your input.

Well, I've been doing this comparison myself recently..

Both those Ipaq's include Bluetooth, and the 5455 includes fingerprint security. If you add a card for Bluetooth to the Toshiba, then it's more expensive. I also think there are more accessories available for the Ipaq via the expansion sleeves. However, the newer processor in the Toshiba is very compelling.

What to do :?: :?:

Great points. I was under the mistaken impression that the e755 has Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi. My fault. :oops:

I'm still stuck between the alure of a CF slot without an expansion pack vs. some nifty features on the 5455 (Consumer IR seems pretty cool!)

Thanks again for your thoughts.

To me, the choice is quite clear. I would definitely go with the e755. You can find a great deal on it. The design is much better than a sleeved iPaq, and you already have dual slots. If you're going to need lots of accessories, or if you want Bluetooth, perhaps you should go with the iPaq.

But for almost all other situations, I suggest getting the e755. It's not worth the extra cost and some hassle to get perks like consumer IR or a biometric scanner.

FWIW, I think the e755 definately wins with features/price.

HOWEVER, after reading peoples experience with Tosh's support of the e740, I'd be real hesitant about giving them my money. :(
