sync cradles for 3975 and 5455

I was just wondering if you can use the same synce cradle for both of these devices. I just purchased the 5455 and it seems like it will not work with the older cradles.
Is my assumption correct, or do I need to tweak the 5455 active sync software?

If both the 3975 & 5455 fit into the 3900's cradle but only the 3975 syncs then your assumption is correct. The pin configuration is probably different although it looks the same.

The difference is not in the cradle itself, but in the device. Try sticking your 3975 in the 5400 cradle. It should sync just fine. However, if you try sticking the 5400 in the 3900 cradle all the 5400 will do is charge...

I wasn't aware of that. I've told a couple clients that when they upgrade from their 3800 series to the 5400 series, the extra cradles they have at home and work will function just fine. You're saying they will need to go out and buy new "HP-branded" cradles? That kinda sucks. :?

Thanks for the info! I tried both cradles (one home, one at work) and they do not even charge the 5455.
I do have a cable which I used on the road with the 3975 that seems to charge and sync.
I sure is a drag you have to go out and spend more money after paying $700!

I have played with several 5455's and some work with the 39xx cradle perfectly (both synching and charging) and some did not work at all.

My unit does not work with the 39xx cradle. I had to purchase extra 54xx cradles even though I had about three 39xx cradles.
