Is there anything special I have to do(setting, drivers, etc.) to get the e550g to recognize the drive?

Shouldn't be - Drop it in and it should work!

You don't say if you've tried and it hasn't?

I'm borrowing my buddy's microdrive, and have yet to try it on MY e550g. But I did go to compusa at lunch just to make sure it fits, but I couldn't get the compusa e550g to recognize the drive. The compusa PDA was running at 50% battery power so I'm not sure if it had enought "juice" to power the microdrive. I just wanted to know if anyone has had first hand experience with the e550g and the Lexar 16x 1GB microdrive and could share some tips.

Ah! Makes sense - I don't have personal experience of the the E550, but have used a MD with other ppcs - they just recognised it out of the box - I don't recall doing a reset or anything.

Someone here will be able to advise for sure!

If the Lexar microdrive is the same as the IBM microdrive, then it should work without problems. My 1gb MD worked fine in my Genio 550g. It fit perfectly and ran without a hitch.

Enjoy.

Thanks for all you quick responses! I installed the Lexar microdrive last night in my e550g and at first the PDA didn't recognize the drive. I pulled out my 128M SD card, and the PDA recognized the microdrive. I then re-installed the SD card, and now the PDA recognizes both cards. My battery indicator was at 60%, so power wasn't an issue. I guess there was something wrong with the Compusa displayed e550g, because I couldn't get that PDA to recognize the microdrive.

Different unit, but the paperwork with the e740 specifies that you can NOT use a MicroDive in that machine. FWIW
