I admit I am new to the Pocket PC world (as one could tell from all my posts for help). I've only had my Axim since January of '03.

But I am just stunned that Pocket Excel and Word do not have a "print" function for the document. In fact, almost none of the viewers (text, photo, etc.) have this option.

Printing from a Pocket PC to an IR enabled printer seems like a no-brainer to me.

This should have just been built-in the PPC 2002 OS, right?

I am just now having a need for this, and judging from the posts I've searched here, you can only print if you add 3rd-party software.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

So, since it has to be this way, is the HP Mobile Printing tool (http://www.hp.com/pond/mep/download/ppcdownload.html) the best option available?

It is the only FREEWARE solution that I know of...

There are three pretty good commercial solutions but since the only IR printer that we have at work is an hp the FREEWARE solution works for me!

Get PrintPocketCE! (http://www.fieldsoftware.com) I use it, and it works great! You can print via infrared or Bluetooth or across a network (i.e. WiFi) to a network printer or a printer connected to a computer on the network! :D 8)
