WiFi(or WLAN wich is the correct word) is the same as LAN, only without the cables... so yes, you can play multiplayer games etc... if that is what you wondered about...

Snails 1.9b3 is a perfect mulitplayer-game for PocketPC and WLAN .

I see. Is it possible to play, say, a windows based game via WLAN? For instance civilization, if I have it on my PC?

Anything that is possible via an Ethernet connection is possible over a WLAN. So if there's a game that you are able to multiplay via a regular LAN, then you should be able to play it via WLAN in the same way. The only difference, obviously, is the speed.

Amazing! So it's possible for me to play space empires or another game whilst sat out in my back garden? Cool :D

No. I don't think so. I think he meant Pocket PC games that can be played over LAN. You can't play games that were made for PCs!

Oh yeah, sorry... I didn't mean to say you can exchange games between PPC and PC... I thought your question was strictly in regards to PCs operating over a Wireless connection.

So when I said:

...that's strictly in regards to PC Games played over a WLAN or Ethernet on a PC, not a PPC.

If your desktop is running XP Pro (or a windows server OS) you can use Remote Desktop (terminal services on the server) to remotely control the PC from the PPC. So technically, most anything that can be run on the desktop can be remoted to the PPC. Mind you that is not running on the PPC, just using the PPC as a remote display and UI.

You are hampered by the processing power, small screen size, and resolution, and the limitations of terminal services, on the PPC, but ti does work. It is really designed to do management and some productivity applications from the remote PPC, not to play Everquest from the patio :)
