Hi Guys... thanks to my article regarding PocketRadio being published on a 'Radio' web site, I received the following query...

Would you know whether there is technology developed that allows remote control of a host PC using PCAnywhere and a pocket PC? I am the Program Director of a radio station that is operating in unattended automation mode for most of the day and all night. I am on call and in control of the station using a remote desktop PC using PCAnywhere to dial in. I would love to be able to dial in using a compact Pocket PC with cell phone technology and the ability to use a mouse and keyboard for controlling the on-air computer. Does this seem possible to you? Are you aware of the Pocket PC that would be capable of this and the software to run it?

I'm not an expert on PC Anywhere and/or related remote control capabilities, but I thought maybe someone here might have some ideas.

Can you help?

Thanks, guys.

If the host computer is running Windows XP Prof or Windows 2000, then you can check a box to allow incoming remote desktop connections and then you can connect to the desktop via the terminal service client which comes standard on PPC. Just type in the ip of the host computer, and you should be good to go.

Run/access/control a XP Pro desktop or Windows 2000 Server from a PocketPC 2002 OS device...use the built-in Terminal Services Client. I use this to access/control my XP Pro desktops from my iPAQ 3835. You can see a screen shot of a TSC session with one of my XP Pro desktops at...

If your NOT running either the PPC 2002 OS or an XP Pro desktop, then look at using VNC to access/control the desktop. Get the desktop VNC server software from...
