View Full Version : ActiveSync Problem

Does anyone know how to kill a relationship of one item in ActiveSync? It appears the mail syncing function between my Axim and AS have a bit of an issue with one another. When I have the mailed checked off, the device will not sync or stay connected. When I uncheck the mail from within AS, the device will sync and stay connected.

I want to just blow out the mail on my PPC and start fresh again - without having to delete the entire PPC relationship. My fear is that when I would delete the mail database on the PPC that it would consider that and update my Outlook the same way... Which would not be good!

Something that I recall working for me once (but I honestly don't remember what the situation was) is creating a new folder at the same level as your inbox and moving all your email items and folders into it. As far as I know, unless you're using 3rd party apps, ActiveSync only syncs the actual Inbox and that should "clear the slate" on your PPC. At that point I would think you could feel free to do what you will to the PPC mail database, sync it that way, then move the items back into Outlook Inbox on your PC and sync again. If you fear you may lose the items in the move back to the Inbox, you could also COPY them over to the Outlook Inbox until you ensure that the sync will work.

Hope that helps and hope that made sense.

Just a thought...

Let me make sure I understand correctly. I think you're saying that you have one unresolved item in your mailbox and you want to get rid of it right?

If that's the case, then do the following (and I think "stitics" is recommending the same but I couldn't follow his email):

1. Keep your PPC connected via ActiveSync and make sure your Inbox is selected for syncing
2. Create another mail folder in your Outlook
3. Move ALL of your Inbox mail to this new folder and wait for AS to completely sync your Inbox (your ppc inbox should be empty now)
4. Move the a small group of emails (say 10 emails) from your temp folder into your inbox
5. As AS re-syncs, check to see if any of the emails you moved causes an "unresolved" conflict. If you see it, then you know the problem email is in the last batch of emails you just moved. So move that previous group of emails back to your temp folder and start moving them 1-by-1 until you see which email is causing this issue. Once you figure out the offending email, delete it or move it.
6. If you don't see the unresolved issue, then repeat steps 4-5 until you find it.

Hope this helps.
