I have a desktop with a wireless USB LAN adapter and an IPAQ 5450.
Both are profiled correctly and the PC can ping the IPAQ.
How do I access the IPAQ from the PC and vice versa ??
Can anyone tell me ??

Thanks in advance

Well, it depends on what you want to do. One thing you could do is setup an ftp server on the ipaq, and then ftp to it wireless from your desktop.
There is an ftp server than you can find here: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=4549&associateid=9

Thanks for your suggestion

What I was wanting to do was:

1. Open up the IPAQ's File Explorer and enter the desktop's name (eg \\desktop) and be able to browse its directories.

2. Use Pocket PC Explorer to share my desktop's dialup internet connection

3. Use the IPAQ's Media Player to play media thats on my desktop.

I am able to do 1 and 3 with my laptop wirelessly, would love to do it with the IPAQ.

Cheers

The built-in File Explorer has this capability. Open File Explorer on the PocketPC and tap the right-most small icon at the bottom, ie. the one that looks like a hand holding trash can. Note that you can only cut-n-paste/copy files between the desktop and PPC.

Look at Netuse (FREE), Netrunner (FREE) or Resco File Explorer ($$$$) if you need to open files across the LAN from your PPC. Personally, I use Netuse on my 3835 and a D-Link DCF-650W wireless card to open music files and play them with Media Player...

To access the internet, your PC needs to be running some sort of internet connection sharing software like XP Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) for example.

Since you can ping the iPAQ from the PC, I presume you can ping the PC from the iPAQ. Get vxUtil for that...

Netuse rocks !!
Thanks for the recomendation!
I can now browse and play media that lives on my desktop :D
Does this utility allow my PC to browse my IPAQ ? I haven't found a way yet...

Thanks again mate!

Other than using ActiveSync Explore on the desktop, the only other way is to setup an FTP server as noted by mscdex...

I have just tried the ftp server recommended by mscdex and.....
it works great !! :D

Thanks again guys !

......now to get my internet sharing thing going......

I have enabled Internet Connection Sharing on my PC's dialup network
connection and specified it to use the LAN connection that is used by the wireless connection with the IPAQ. I still cannot browse with the
IPAQ's built-in Internet Explorer. The Internet Settings on the Connections
page only has a 'General' tab and a 'Modem' tab. Do I need to configure
a modem eventhough its my PC that is doing the dial-up ?

...Chris De Herrera's Connection Manager FAQ... I use Work, Work and Work as suggested by Chris... Note the Recommendations section for help with internet access...

This presumes your desktop internet sharing functionality is configured and running...
