bSquare's SDIO Now! Technology Gets Toshiba As A Licensee

Basically it's like a big community where one member helps the other member in order to develop SDIO cards and drivers much faster. Maybe someone who's company is a member can tell us more ?

The article points out some very interesting happenings, IMO. The most important being that Toshiba, ( whose ' flavor ' of SDIO is ' based ' on the SDIO standard, hence, Toshiba B^ SDIO cards only work on Toshiba PPC's that have SDIO capability. Not counting Palm/Toshiba SDIO, thats another story :P ) maybe just maybe in their future PPC offerings, will be using what is being ' marketed ' as bSquare's 'Industry Standard' for SDIO.

Interchangeable, compatible Bluetooth SDIO cards on all SDIO PPC models!

The compatibility alone would be a huge plus for the unknowing, beleaguered PPC end user, IMO. :D

The second interesting development, IMO, is this....

SDIO Now!-enabled Pocket PC powered devices featured in the Showcase include: Samsung's i700 Pocket PC Phone Edition

This is the FIRST SDIO capable smartphone to actually have the bSquare software and driver onboard!

Sidenote*

It seems that the iPAQ 1915 will indeed be SDIO capable using this SDIO standard. If Chris De Herrea's site is correct, the SDIO driver and software will not have to be downloaded, but will be in the ROM when the PPC is purchased!
