What about MS Smartphones? Still not a peep. Maybe Bill is holding back Smartphone news until his keynote on Wednesday? Or maybe there is no news. More Samsung announcements, but still no Smartphone or SCH-i600.

Hope there's more to come.

I just wish Sprint would finally sell a Bluteooth capable phone like the T68i. I know the T608 is in the works, but who the heck knows when that will hit the market? Their 'customer service' drones know less than I do about things.. "Sony makes a phone? Huh? Are you sure you are talking about Sprint PCS and not some other carrier, huh?"

Jason, any chance of you or one of the other MVP's on the site getting an early peek at one or both of these phones for a quick review?

It's possible, but not very likely - most of the OEMs tend to ignore us. :? I have a good PR contact for Microsoft though that may be able to connect me with the right person though...

I'm not sure there's a CDMA smartphone out there anymore. The only one I was aware of was the Samsung and now that Samsung has backtracked on that (e.g. they've said they will not produce products based on Smartphone 2k2) there may not be one.

Then again, HTC made their PPC2K2PE device CDMA so there is nothing that says they couldn't do it with Tanger.

I looked closely at the image of the Hitachi PPCPE linked to the MS press release, and it looks like it may have a telescoping thumboard....a la the Tungsten T's graffiti area. If you look closely on the left side of the keyboard there is the word "keyboard" an arrow pointing up toward the body of the unit. This looks like instructions for sliding the keyboard back up into the body of the PPC, leaving only the navigation keys visible when in the "retracted" mode. Maybe that's why the Hitachi has that funny tapered shape, too.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into a little arrow....

Actually scrinch, that word is Key Guard, not keyboard. There is obviously a key lock switch on the side of the unit to prevent accidental dialing while the unit is in a pocket, etc. Good catch on the image, though!!

Other than the speculation posted on msmobiles.net, and posts that have suggested the demise of the SCH-i600 (including my own posts to that regard), where has Samsung officially made that statement? I certainly haven't seen it, and others supposedly in the know say that it is alive and well.
