I've been invited by Microsoft to attend Mobius Europe 2003, which is being held at Euro Disneyland, Paris, at the beginning of April. I haven't been to France before, so I'm looking forward to it, although if this is anything like the other Mobius events I'll probably only see the airport, my hotel room, and the conference room. It's two days worth of jam-packed information sessions, but what I really enjoy are the discussions. Microsoft brings together people from the PDA and mobile phone world (I have to break the Canadian habit of calling it a "cell phone") and of course we all have different platforms of choice. For the most part, everyone is polite and the discussions are thought-provoking and it always opens my eyes up to what other platforms are capable of doing.

And of course, hanging out with my fellow mobile-devices geeks is always a lot of fun! Since the event is public, we rarely get any "top secret" news, but if I learn anything interesting, I'll certainly pass it along.

Full disclosure: Microsoft pays for our flights and hotel, which is handy, because if they didn't I wouldn't be going. :D We normally get a few goodies too, although I don't know what they'll be this time.

We call them cell phones in the US too no matter what the providers call them. Perhaps a North American habit?

Since nothing else in this thread is on topic, I'd like to point out that it's not Euro-Disneyland, it's just Disneyland Paris now. Also, while you're there Jason, there's a new Disney park there, Disney Studios Paris that supposedly (I haven't been lucky enough to go yet ) has an awesome car stunt show that you should check out!

Have fun.

Have a good time, Jason. I was there last week actually on a short break with my family. You'll find that everyone speaks almost perfect English anyway, and there's not much about it that's French - i.e. you should feel right at home. :)

You guys sure never miss an opportunity to promote yourself on this site! I'd love to swing by, but on the 5th I'll be on a plane on my way to St. Petersburg, Russia, to visit the Spb gang.

So it's not at all like going to Quebec then. [ducks]

I hope you have a nice time there Jason. I was born about 100 miles from France, but I think it's a good place to avoid. I have driven old Subaru Imprezza Turbo at 155 mph on the toll roads there though so it can't be all bad.

On the whole if, like most Canadians you think Quebec is a pain, France is worse.

Oh, while you are there, maybe you can get Active Sync sorted as well.

Ad in the local paper a while ago: Wireless is booming! I naturally assume it's 802.11 so I call them up. They want cellular reps. :?

fwiw, best croissant I've ever had was in the Paris train station (or it was a really big station that we arrived at from Swissland if it wasn't the main one). Baguettes looked good too!

Baguettes are just bread, and it is just onion soup and just the fries - I guess the French part is just assumed. I don't know about Royale with Cheese though I was never tempted to try it out. Also if you are on the main drag in Paris, Champs-ElysČes there is an AMG store there worth a wet dream or two…and a really cool kids store called Nathalie’s. Damn I miss Paris.

....and French toll highways kick ass too, far more than Autobahn...ever could
