Here is my scenario. 2nd Dell just arrived for my wife. Set up Outlook per article HOW TO: Synchronize More Than One Pocket PC Device with the Same Installation of Outlook (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312888&sd=tech). Article indicates that Outlook prompts you for a profile to use every time that you start Outlook but that is just not true. Can anyone tell me why? Otherwise, is there another way we can sync tasks, calendar, contacts and not inbox?

I think its because you are in Internet Mail Only mode instead of Corporate & Workgroup

Possible - thanks for the quick response. The link provided directions for Outlook 2000 and I have 2002. Did not find the tab that they are looking for. Do you have directions for 2002?

Looking in my Outlook 2002 Help, you should go to Start/Setting/Control Panel/Mail. Go to Show Profiles, add the new profile and select "When starting Microsoft Outlook Prompt for a profile to be used". This may get you a bit closer.

Gee, I had the profile dialog coming up on a friends PC (single user) each time he opened Outlook and couldn't figure out how to get rid of it.

Since yer probably grasping for anything to try by now, try these:

Did you happen to upgrade from an earlier version of Office/Outlook to the Outlook supplied with the Dell Axim? If so, try updating your office installation service packs (be prepared with original disks and wasting a day to download these layered service packs..) Go to www.officeupdate.com and download what it says you need when you click Product Updates. This isn't a bad thing to do even if it doesn't fix your problem. I'd probably do this as my last step before wiping the computer clean.

Also as an easier fix (maybe?), have you tried setting it to not prompt for a profile, then go back in and set it to prompt for a profile? (Assuming there are truly 2 profiles setup). Also try deleting the 2 profiles, restarting, then recreating 2 profiles (don't use any default profile names, just type them in) and see if it gives you a prompt then. Those settings are in Control Panel\Mail\Profiles...

I've had Outlook not prompt me before too, I think it was something related to having the profile use the default name "MS Exchange Settings", but I'm not entirely sure on that one.

Here's a few other MS Knowledge Base Articles to check out

Sorry if none of this helps, but when i had this problem, i gave up immediately and formatted my computer and installed clean...it was time anyhow....

You might want to see if Dell can help you out, but in my experience, you won't be able to understand the English dialect coming out of some of the tech's mouth's. At least on the support for the Axim's.

In any case, don't give up, it DOES work when it finally works.
