Does anyone have any experience using Clear Speed (http://revolution.cx/speed/speed.htm) for the iPaq 1910? I just downloaded it the other night and I love the way it improves performance on my machine, especially when viewing Flash animations. However, I just read this article (http://www.idg.net/english/crd_speed_1190660.html) that says that overclocking can be dangerous for PDAs. I am absolutely in love with my 1910 and I don't want anything bad to happen to it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have been using ClearSpeed 2.0 for awhile now. I love it. CS 2.0 allows you to set pre-defined speeds for various apps. For example, you can set video apps/games to 300T or 300R modes for better performance. When you exit the app, the processing speed is set back to the mode that was in effect before the app was run

As for safety, there have tons of discussions about this on various forums. Basically, the developers of these "scaling" apps are unlocking the natural ability of the XS processor to modify it's clock speed. I wouldn't worry too much about what was written about heat, etc. Programs like CS allow "safe" scaling processor speeds. If you want to run at faster speeds, your device might lock up or begin to become unstable.

In addition, realize that devices like ViewSonic and Asus come with scaling apps built in. I severely doubt that the hardware is radically that different from other devices in the same class.

HTH!
