personally, i'm not crazy about metal cases. if your metal cased pda hits the deck, the impact is going to reverberate much more with metal.

Not as long as the case is lined properly. This case looks awesome actually :)

Hmmm...the hinge is right where my fingers go :( .

I wonder if the cover flips completely back or only opens halfway (to the point in the pictures)?

I must say that it looks beautiful.

The advantage of the side hinge is that the case won't impede access to the CF slot or the headphone jack or the IR port. And it's got cutouts on the side for the scroller and the SD slot, though I don't know how well one would be able to insert or remove a card with the case on in practice. The design is just gorgeous IMO, though the question of whether it flips all the way back is a crucial one.

Looks like it covers up the soft reset button. Not a good thing - you'd think they could extend the cutout another 1/4 inch...

By the way, this doesn't cover the soft reset button, it is fully accessible.

The Innopocket products look nearly identical (at least for iPaq products) to the ones sold by Proporta. Are they the same, just sold in different parts under different names?

I have received a sample from Innopocket but going by the screenshots, it is identical to Proporta and Rhinoskin Axim cases.

I ordred mine yesterday. I should have it in a few days. I cannot wait to have something resembling a real case to put my new baby in :-)

Being a dark reddish-blonde, I'm darkly and reddishly offended.

Just got mine in the mail this morning. I'm left handed, so I think it will work out pretty well. The fit and finish is good, and so far I like it (although I've only had it for 2 hours).

One question for anyone who has had a metal case before (or anyone else with an idea): The case is a bit slippery, anyone have an idea as to some sort of "tacky" strip(s) that I could put in few strategic places, making it easier to grip?

My first thought was some sort of adhesive fine grit sandpaper, but I think there is probably something better.

Thanks in advance.

Just got mine in the mail this morning.

So the big question is: The hinge on the cover: Fold out, or fold completely over the back?

I'm dying to know, not like it'll stop me from getting the case which I've already ordered, but I'm just curious :-)

You can tell that it won't fold all the way back from the pictures.

Here's (http://www.innopocket.com/EShop/Main/product.php?ID=61&name=Others) a link to some info on the case. And I have no idea how you can tell how far the case opens by looking at these pictures...

The cover folds through approximately 210 degrees.

PetiteFlower

If you look at the close-up of the case open, you can see that the hinge is designed in such a way that would make folding it all the way back impossible. The hinge is real close to the front(see the side veiw pics too); in order for it to open all the way the hinge would have to be near the back.

Sorry... we tend to ignore folks with less than 200 posts.

Just kidding. I remember a site that sold "grip" type of stickers that you could wrap around your iPaq. They came in a variety of colors like black, blue, clear, etc. The whole point was to allow you a better grip of your device.

They may sell some generic type of stickers. If not, I see no reason why you couldn't just take the iPaq stickers they have now and apply it to the case.

Unfortunately, I have no recollection of who the company was or what their website address is or if they're even still around (they were as of about 12-14 months ago)... anyone else?

I have to say, that when I opened the package and looked at it, I was already impressed. The quality and precision of the workmanship is obvious the minute you take it out of the plastic.

Every hole aligns perfectly and nothing you would need access to is covered. Of course, the unit won't fit into the cradle with the case on, but the case adds so little size to the Axim that you can actually put it in your pocket now.

It is a little slick, but there are nodules on the top left and top right and that helps somewhat. The only thing I see being a potential problem is the closing mechanism, as I envision the latch bending over time and not wanting to close anymore.

But other than that, this bad boy was worth every single penny of the $34.99 they charge for it. It's also lined with a soft material inside to really keep the scratches off your baby. If anyone has any questions about it, I'd be more than happy to answer them...

Are you right or left-handed and does the hinge affect the way you hold your PPC when the case is open? Just how far really does the cover open? Andy says it opens about 210 degrees? Is that accurate?
Thanks...

Vincent M Ferrari

I'm right-handed, and it does affect the way I hold my handheld because the lid only opens slightly more than 180 degrees. It is a little difficult to hold when open, but you get used to it. A case where the cover swung all the way to the back of the device would be better, but this is a truly well-designed case.

I've written a review on this case which I just need to edit together. Should be ready for tonight although it's up to Jason when it will appear on the site.

I have a good selection of pics and I think I have covered everything but let me know if there are any pics you would like to see. Apart from some scantily clad babe holding the thing! ;)

How about a gratuitous picture of a babe that has nothing to do with the case? Like Robert's avatar or something?

Be careful or kati42 and PetiteFlower will be asking for Schwarzenegger-esque pics as well.

It is indeed a beautiful case, but I'm going to have to pass on it because:
1) The cover does not flip all the way back, making it difficult to hold when open.
2) See #1

Otherwise, it is very nice.

During my evaluation, I haven't found this case hard to hold at all. It would be ideal if it flipped all the way to the back but as it stands, it both comfortable and easy to use. It's not as natural to hold as a naked device but otherwise better than expected imho.
