How fast is your Internet connection (download speed)? Also, post your upload speed and what you use to connect. If you want to test your speed, try DSL Reports (http://www.dslreports.com/stest).

I get 640 kbps down and 291 kbps up using my DSL connection.

Sad thing is that my office is using a fractional T1, and we max out the entire office at 76KBps so if one person uses Windows update the entire office crawls durning the download. my home connection is 20 times faster.

Using Roadrunner cable for last year. Prior, had DSL Earthstink I mean Earthlink. Was getting about 1200/300 until a year ago Dec. Speeds dropped to 8 kbps. Evidently, they over sold there capabilities abit  Went to RR and happy ever since. :D

It's all in the tweaking. I can actually get get 3500 kbps or more at the right times. (4.5mbit on other benchmark sites)
Cable modem in a small-ish midwest town.

Anyone using Windows and broadband, especially XP, do yourself a huge favor and at the very least install a premade registery settings script. www.speedguide.net can get you started. Windows is almost never set up properly for broadband by default and will hold you back big time by thinking you're a common aol 56k'er.

As far as DSL vs Cable, it all depends on where you live and what services you have. I've used both, and each for years. Here, cable beats DSL hands down no questions asked. My DSL was always going down at random times, always having problems. I got 1.5mbit max speed. Switched to cable, and it's a rock solid connection and twice the bandwidth. Sure, it may be shared bandwidth... but there's barely a dent in bandwidth at peak hours here. Maybe a 0.5 drop at most.
