As the topic says, wich PocketPC 2002 MP3-Player gives the best soundquality?

Win Media Player is crap, PocketMusic is ok because the EQ, but is there any better program?

If it makes any diffrence, I´ve got a Toshiba e310

Pleace excuse my English, I´m a Swede.

If I'd have to guess, it's iPlay (available from 40th.com); however, it's commercial and not particularly cheap (although there is a trial on the homepage). However, your biggest problem is that the e310 has mediocre audio output... I doubt you'll find a solution you really like :(

ok.. Well, toshiba had to put some functions away when they did the e310, and i guess with the price i´ve payed, and the size it is i should be happy.. Thanks anyway.

Give withMP3 it's trial (generous time length). It has extensive EQ settings and has superb sound quality.

Sound output isn't so bad on the e310 if you have pretty good headphones.

As for players, I haven't tried many, but I've come across two that both support ogg (EQ not available for ogg files in either one though) and that are freeware:

WinamPAQ (a Winamp clone that supports skins from v.2) (http://www.projecteam.org/phpwiki/index.php/WinamPAQ%20-%20PDS)

GSPlayer2 (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/gsp.htm)

There were rave comments on both software in here and on Brighthand. Unfortunately, not much of anything but Korean and Japanese on both sites, but operating a mp3 player is pretty straightforward, right? ;)

Note that I had to disable Norton Internet Security 2003 in order to download WinamPAQ, or else all I got was a blank page.

I liked Winampaq except the shuffle function doesn't seem to work. Which is bad. But I liked that you could map all the funtions and that there were equalizer presets. But without shuffle, it doesn't do me much good.

Is there ANYTHING else out there? I'm afraid to download something that doesn't have ANY documentation in English(GSPlayer).

easy answer that I can easily backup. pocket MVP. why? because its the only player that uses the MAD plugin. what is MAD? its an open source decoder with one goal, to provide the best most accurate mpeg decompression possible.

Well, GSPlayer2 has no documentation whatsoever anyway, not in the English version, and not even in the (edit)Japanese one. ;)

(I'm not kidding, there is no help menu!)

In the English version, all menus are in English. It's sufficient for me. After all, it's a pretty bare-bones, no-frills player anyway. (I've never really liked Winamp's UI.) Sure, it takes a few moments to figure out how to manage the playlists, but it isn't so bad. Shuffle seems to work.

And it's free. :D

I've been trying WinamPAQ for a few days, but I've come back to GSPlayer2.

[Edit: it's Japanese, not Korean.]

The ARM/XScale PocketPC version would be this one (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/files/gsp176a_eng.zip). It's the most recent English version listed on the site.

Punk on Brighthand also made an English page from which to download GSPlayer2 (http://www.geocities.com/punkunp/).
