I didn't see this posted anywhere (maybe I didn't look hard enough), but I saw that ROM update 1.11 is now available for the iPAQ 3950 & 3955 :D

I hope this update doesn't slow my 3955 to a snail's pace like the last several updates did :?

Anyone braver than me willing to give this one a try and report back?

I did the install today and I am having problems now with spacemaker locking up. Have to remove the compact flash adapter for it to unlock on soft reset.

 OK, we have Version 1.00, the original ROM. Next we have Version 1.10, the ROM Update. Now we have Version 1.11, the clock speed fix.

Now lets change the Lingo and talk about UPDATES. I have SP22546 (an ROM update 11-02), SP22945 (an ROM update 1-03), and SP23642 (2-03) which I thought was the patch to fix the clock speed issue. Its a small file, only 1.28 MB. So now what's with this SP23661?

If I installed the patch (SP23642), do I have to install this huge new ROM Update? I don't know about you, but I've got a lot of programs that I have to re-install whenever I change the ROM. And again, I don't know about you, but I have a LOT of SkyScape programs which are linked the the Device ID - which changes whenever a hard reset occurs, which means that I have to re-register them under the new ID by going to their Website and promise them that I am using the program on only one device, etc.

All in all, its a pain and very time consuming and I would like to know for sure if I have to go through this.

So, do I have to upgrade to SP23661 if I already installed the SP23642 Patch.

Thanks
Rick

The new ROM update has the speed changed fixed in ROM permanetly. The small fix they posted earlier will not stay if you do a hard reset. If this does not bug you then there is no reason to update to the new ROM. Also, it does take up memory space in your RAM.

I applied the 1.11 patch today. Everything seemed to go OK until I got home. NONE of my CF cards work. My SMC WiFi card is not recognized, nor is my Socket Bluetooth card. I get the "Unknown card in socket 1" message. A normal ol' CF memory card isn't even seen by Explorer, though I don't get a message upon insertion. The Expansion Pack tool in Control Panel shows that a CF Type II card is inserted, but it's inaccessable. Needless to say, I'm way cranky.

Hmm, after swearing at my iPAQ and staring at it very sternly, my SMC card started working last night. Didn't try the BT or memory cards. I'll do that tonight.

Swear more if the bluetooth doesn't work, and one more time when memory card doesn't work

Is there a mirror somewhere for the latest update? I'm having problems downloading from ftp sites or either the link is dead now.
