I can't say that I can offer you any comparisons with other keyboards...but I use the dedicated Ipaq keyboard with my 3870 and love it. There was an issue with the earlier driver which appears to have been sorted now. When closed the casing offers good protection, the key action is good..v comparable to a laptop keyboard and the opening action is very cool...pull the sides apart to see the centre section rise up...very Thunderbirds! 8O

If you're a touch-typists, then the Targus Stowaway is hard to beat. It's a full-sized keyboard that folds up into a case slightly larger than the iPaq itself.

I agree with the other posts. The Targus is the best for touch typing but I use the Compaq for the following reasons:

1. no adapter required for the 3900 series
2. ability to use AC power with the keyboard

well, i use the stowaway keyboard, but i can use AC power with the keyboard, hey have AC input jack at the adaptor, allowing you to use AC power while typing, and also, the stowaway seems cheaper than the compaq keyboard.

I've used the Stowaway and the Compaq.

The Stowaway has the advantage of being full-sized which makes it very easy to type on. But only if you've got a large, firm surface to use it on. That's because it bends in the middle.

The Compaq is slightly smaller. It's OK after several minutes use. But my fingers think they're using a proper keyboard - so they miss some of the outer keys until they get used to it. It also has a fussy spacebar which has to be pressed dead-centre. The folding mechanism is the only thing that's ever impressed my non-techie cow-orker. She thought it stunningly cool.

I like to be able to type with the keyboard on a book on my lap. This is possible with the Compaq but not with the Stowaway (unless it's a very, very big book).

It really depends on what you want to do with the keyboard?

Is it just for casual data entry like taking down someone's address or is it to take notes in a meeting?

If it's just for casual data entry, you should probably look into one of hte mini keybaords.

If you're looking for something more heavy duty, definately get the Targus.

Agreed. A thumb keyboard may be much more convenient if it's just casual data entry.
