Thanks. I just ordered one. These prices really seem to be dropping fast.

Only about a month ago I got a SimpleTech 512MB CF card at MicroCenter on sale for 199.99 minus a 50.00 rebate.

Yeah they are dropping fast. I don't know if there is a difference between all these CF cards (maybe speed?), but that's a pretty good price, would get it myself if I had the $$$.

They seem to have changed the pricing - it shows up as more expensive for me. The link gives a unit that is 149.88 before rebate, and below in the "other customers also shopped for" section, there's one for $159.99 before the $35 rebate. That would bring it down to $124.99 after rebate, not before rebate. At least - that's what it's saying now.

The deal is dead now, price has been raised, no mention of a rebate, and the shipping isn't free anymore. Hope more than 1 person got in on this.

They're still showing links with deals on other cards though, worth checking out if you want a smaller card. There were deals on the SD cards too.

Someone posted this on Brighthand -- Dell has a Sandisk 512MB Ultra CF card for 97.33 (no rebates) and free shipping. I already ordered the Amazon one, but I'm seriously considering returning it and getting one of these instead. I don't think it makes any difference in a PDA, but if I want to also use it in a camera, the Ultra might be noticeably faster. I did some tests last summer in my camera with regular 256MB cards from Sandisk and Kingston, and a 12x 256MB card from Lexar. With the Sandisk card, the camera took about three times as long to store a picture and be ready for the next shot as either of the other two cards; I've heard that the larger cards might be faster, but haven't tested any. (Amazon has the Ultra card too, but it's 170.95).

I seem to be unable to figure out how to post a truncated link even though someone tried to explan it
but it can be found by searching on the Dell site for Sandisk 512.

Don't get too excited about the dell one...

they jacked the price to $140 (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?Sku=A0079147&category_id=&customer_id=19&c=us&l=en&cs=19)

But.... the 1gb Sandisk is $202. (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?Sku=A0006297&category_id=&customer_id=19&c=us&l=en&cs=19)

BTW: whats the speed difference between a 1Gb Microdrive, and a 1Gb CF card? big? little?

Don't know, but the power difference should be quite big. Dell's now at $190 before shipping, btw.

be weary of microdrives... heads usually break off after a year.. not the best thing to have josteling around in a portable device.
