Dell KB FINALLY Arrives!

The Axim is my 1st Dell product and I get conflicting impressions of their customer service from the various posts to this forum. My impression based on the past few weeks is that the integration of their customer service systems stinks, their rep's vary between nice and rude, but if you get the right one they really try to go the extra mile to make up for your inconvenience. I won't bore you with the details, but my keyboard ordered on Dec-26th finally arrived :twisted: ! Not only did it arrived today, but they shipped me two of them. That's right, I wait over a month to get one, and they send me two.

But that's not the point of this post. Anyone who was thinking of settling for one of the wireless kb's because they are tired of waiting on Dell, I say to you......DON'T DO IT! This is one sweet kb :D . It is smaller than the Stowaway I had for my Ipaq. I've played around with a couple of the wireless jobs and the build and keys on the Dell feel MUCH better.

I know it's tough waiting, and I was very tempted to cancel and buy something else, but IMO this kb is worth waiting for.

Your impression of Dell's customer service is pretty much exactly the same as mine. And that's with having bought a desktop PC and the Axim within the last 2 months. I'm really happy with the products and I'm happy with MOST of the service people, but a couple of them really suck and the wait to get through to a live person can be excruciating.

In the end though, all my problems have been fixed and my stuff arrived in one piece :) Er, make that the correct number of pieces :)

So what are you going to do with the extra keyboard? ;)

Ha, that reminds me... I just ordered a 512MB Lexar SD card for $310 from another dealer... received two instead of one.

Think they were being charitable? :lol:

As for customer service, my advice is to keep calling back if you get a bad rep. Eventually you'll get someone who has a clue.

I wish I could, but no digital camera. A while back I saw a thread on this site discussing the new Stowaway being released for the Palm, but not the PPC. It was smaller and sleeker. The Axim kb looks like the new Stowaway.

Unfortunately Dell is aware of there mistake and has authorized me to return one. I would be happy to sell to you, but I would need to be made whole. That would result in you paying for shipping twice (Dell will charge me for shipping if I don't return, then the cost to ship to you).

If you've been waiting as long as I have, it may be worth it. But I get the impression that they have some in stock so you may be able to get it directly from Dell and incur shipping only once.

Sorry I can't give you a better deal. I can hold it for a couple of days prior to returning to Dell. Why don't you try Dell directly and if no luck, let me know.

No problem. It opens from the top and then the sides fold out. It is really a slick kb. The keys are a little smaller than the stowaway, but I don't think I'll have any trouble adjusting.

I highly recommend it.
