are there any tricks to getting this to work.

the rom 1.0 seems to load. i get the green desktop
but if i put games in the 'My Documents' folder and try to load them as .zip files i get an error "BAD BOOT INFO!! Side: 1 Sectors:9 Tracks: 0".

does this mean the games are bad?

When you unzip the file, what's inside the zip?
There should be a .msa or .st file inside
Otherwise the file is not an AtariST floppy image

From the error message you get it sounds like there are simply atari st files in the zip (which you can't directly load in CastCE), not a floppy image.

its a .bin file in the .zip file

in fact all the ones i could find are that format.

bin? mmmh... what you could try is:
-Unzip the file to your ppc
-and rename the extension (.bin) to .msa or .st (try both)
-download the newest version of CastCE (http://pocketinfinity.com), v1.01

Other than that I can't say. You could try making new images. For that look up some info about Atari disks+how to convert them first along with some general info. A good starting point is The Little Green Desktop (http://www.atari.st)

.bin is usualy used for a cd-rom iso...

different types of cd-rom burning/ripping software use a .bin file with a .cue (can't remember which is the actual iso, and which is just basicly a text file telling the cd software what to do with it. Size, name etc...)

But do as Buddha sugested, download a new version...

TheBacklash, the .bin is the 'image' and the .cue is the 'textfile'. :D
