I have a socket bluetooth cf card that worked in my ipaq but i can't get it working in my Axim X5. When i insert it, it gives an error message: unrecognized card...

Anyone else have this problem?

This may be a silly question, but did you install the Socket driver for the card on your Axim yet?

Yes. I've done that a few times. If others have gotten it to work, then maybe a hard reset is the only answer. I'm hoping that someone may have a better solution!

BlueRidgeBilly,

Have you registered your card w/ Socket to take advantage of their tech support on your issue? I know the Bluetooth card works on the Axim.

It might be a matter of a card gone haywire that would be replaced if this is indeed the case.

Are you using the latest driver from Socket's site? It's been available for a while but newer than the driver that shipped with my card.
If you still have problems, let me know and I'll try my card on the Axim. Haven't got round to trying them together yet.

Even newer drivers due "end of January" (i.e. by today :? ) but not available yet. If you still have problems these may help when they're out.

[UPDATE: Sorry - I wasn't paying attention - Wireless LAN drivers are due  ]

Thanks to all of you. I've checked Socket's site the 7/16 drivers are still up. I'll tool around a little more. I'm not really sure how to return this if it is defective (ordered from mobile planet)... but we'll see.

The card is bad! I hope Mobile Planet will do an exchange or something.

Fred,
You really weren't far off.

If one has a Socket Bluetooth card, you can get the Bluetooth beta driver for the card. One just has to register their product and sign up for the Early Adopter Beta Program.

BlueRidgeBilly,

Sorry to hear of you trouble! Here's Mobile Planet's Customer support and return policy. I'd definitely call them and explain your situation.

If you don't fall under MP's guidelines, I would definitely register your product with the last Socket link I left you on this thread, ( if you haven't already ) and contact Socket Technical Support. If its possible, ask for Donnie, since I know how well he takes care of Socket product customers.

Good luck!

Spooky timing - been using their previous Bluetooth beta for a while now. So stable I was wondering why they hadn't released it yet. Obviously working on a bit more before they do.

I know this discussion is about the Socket Bluetooth card, but didn't want to start a new threat. Can someone please give me an estimate of how many hours will a regular 802.11b WLAN (not the new "Low Power" kind) last on an Axim with the regular battery?

Thanks for all the great advice. Called Socket and they quickly agreed to cross ship a new card out to me. Really a good process. Thank God.
