ROM Update on 3970 failed

I just tried the German Rom-Update only to find out, that I couldn't get through the whole process. Somewhere in the middle of it, you have to press "button #2, On-Off-Button and Reset-Button". Afterwards it should show on your 3970 either "serial" or "USB" depending on your connection. My iPAQ only showed "serial" although it is connected via USB. Thus the following connection couldn't be established and I had to give up.
Any ideas what I can do?

On my 3970 (English ROM) it showed "Serial" until I plugged it in, then it switched to "USB"...

Had no problems with the upgrade, but wonder why HP took the english version back!?

At Pocketpcpassion, I read that HP took it off to make some changes for additional improvements. It should be back up in a week or two.
