My kids would like to be able to take full advantage of the on-line capabilities of their PS2. However, the PS2 is on the opposite side of the family room than the computer. Is it possible using a Linksys wireless router to hook up the PS2 to the computer wirelessly?

If I did this would the connection be fast enough to actually play games or would I be better off just running a cable around the base board of the family room or under the carpet over to the computer?

Hey if I did this, this would give me an excuse to get that Wireless card for my Axim :) heheh I can please the kids and SHMBO and still get something out of it for myself. :D

Since the PS2 only has an optional "Broadband adapter" (read: external NIC), you can only use CAT5 cable. I think running a cable is your only option, unless there's something new that I don't know of.

Don't despair, you actually do have several options. First of all, you can get a wireless bridge from Linksys or D-Link and hook up the PS2's broadband adapter to that. Alternatively, you could also try home powerline networking and get a pair of powerline bridges. Both scenarios should work just fine and will provide plenty of speed for the PS2, probably much in excess of your broadband connection anyway.
