Has anyone found Pocket Quicken for the Axim? Landware has it for the Palm OS, but I doubt that it would work on the Axim...am I incorrect? Also, I read somewhere that there is an Excel sheet that will transfer into Quicken, but I've forgotten where I read it (dang middle-age memory).

Anyone?

Here are the two I hear most about.

PoQuick (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=134E7782AAB684F1ECDB7XD8FD61C4AC&productId=17273&optionId=1_2_2&productType=2&catalog=30&txtSearch=PoQuick&sectionId=0&platformId=2) and Spb Quick (http://www.softspb.com/products/quick/index.html)

This one was just mentioned recently in another thread:

I've never used Quicken, but I DID just win PoQuick Enterprise Edition from this lovely site, and I REALLY like it! I used Pocket Money on my old Casio e125, and hadn't gotten around to installing PocketMoney 2002 on my new Axim yet. I installed PoQuick instead, and it seems really powerful. It can do graphs, pie charts, profit/loss reports, expenses, etc. Plus, I think it can even handle importing Quicken files (QIF format) if that's what you've got on your desktop.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed!

If next year's Quicken release comes with the same onerous software activation that Turbo Tax does, I'll be switching to Money. And I'm an eight-plus-year user of both programs, who has a boatload of Intuit stock.

I use sbp quick and love it so far. Easy to use, easy to understand.

Landware released an update a month or 2 ago stating that they'd scrapped all their previous work on a Pocket Quicken for PPC, and were starting from scratch...so its going to be a long wait.

I've been waiting to enter the PocketPC realm for a long while now. For some time I thought I would buy a unit the instant that Landware announced a PPC version of PocketQuicken.

However, (and I'm not big on conspiracy theories) has anyone else wondered that the "delays" that Landware has experienced in getting PocketQuicken ported to the PocketPC might be due to a licensing problem, exclusivity agreement etc. with Microsoft that actually prevents Landware from producing a Pocket PC version of the software. I mean, they've been "working" on it for over 2 years.

I don't understand how sPb could have "passed" Landware in developing a PPC-based program, when Landware should have been well ahead of the curve.

Just 2cents worth...

I have been using SPB Quick and it work great. It will work with all normal cash/bank/credit type accounts but will not do investments. They have a trail version if you want to give it a try. Oh yes, you must have Quicken on your desktop for it to work. :D

I tried PO Quick which uses your Quicken files (copy them over to the pda) but it will not sync with the desktop so I can't see much point in this. You would have to manually update the desktop or possibly copy the files back to the desktop. Too much work and a little risky!

Does Landware's palm version of Quicken offer any more than SPB's?

I have PoQuick and like it, but it is SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

takes forever. Other than that, nice program. I wonder if the new version has decent speed.

Landware has been promising Pocket Quicken for a long time. They say they're working on it but they've missed several self-imposed deadlines and now it's more than a year late. I switched to Money on my desktop computer so I could use it with Money on my Pocket PC. Money and Quicken are pretty much equal and these days I find I like Money a little more.

Landware is again promising a specific date for the release of Pocket Quicken for the Pocket PC. I found this over on Brighthand.

General information:

Visual tour:

I used Pocket Quicken for Windows CE starting about 6 months before the original Pocket PCs came out. It was a solid, reliable product. As with this new Pocket PC version, it required Quicken running on the desktop. The new one has nothing to do with the old one I used to have, other than basic functionality and name. Landware has taken over the product from another company and apparently threw out all the old code.

One immediate advantage I see compared to Money for the Pocket PC: Pocket Quicken shows budget information, whereas Money does not. That is very important to many people.

I switched to Money a year and a half ago because of the significant delays in Pocket Quicken. For those who still use Quicken I hope this product is worth the wait.

Note that Pocket Quicken, as Money, is designed to work with the corresponding desktop version. Neither product is intended as a stand-alone money manager on a Pocket PC.
